nokia lumia 800 camers settings help

hi, i have the nokia lumia 800, but i'm not too happy with the camera, when i take a photo of someone (just their head and shoulders), the picture is dark around the edges, if i take far away pictures then its ok, i've tried different settings but nothing works, it's really annoying when i take a photo of my grandaughter, and its dark all around her, please can anyone suggest any settings, as i bought the phone mainly for the camera, but can't get any nice photos, thanks in advance :beer:
