Direct Caravan owner scam

Hi, I am new to this site but am so angry that i am just writing this everywhere that i can warn others and also to see if anyone can help me. To cut a long story short i have booked and paid for in full a weeks holiday in a caravan at Perran Sands caravan park from a private owner through a holiday home letting company, since i paid the money through a bank transfer have heard nothing from this lady even though have sent numerous emails, and this was a month ago. Been in contact with the company that originally was advertising her caravan and they are unable to contact her too, even though before they pulled the plug on her advert she was still replying to new enquiries, I even got my mum to send her an enquiry to see if the week that i had booked and paid for was available she replied within 10 mins and said yes it was and gave my mum a price!!!. Have reported her to action fraud (have heard nothing) but have now noticed since the company i booked with has pulled the plug on her she is now advertising on another site. I phoned perran sands directly who told me a lady with the same name that i have, does indeed own a caravan there but there has been other complaints too (they can not contact her either), Can anyone out there help me or if you are one other complainers please contact me and see if we can team up to find this woman/animal who is deceiving so many people.:mad::mad:

  • I've heard this a lot just lately. People advertising on gumtree and such like really cheap caravan holidays and then disappearing. It gives those of us who are genuinely letting out our caravans and care about our customers a bad name.

I've had some great holidays in private owners vans, this kind of fraud is ruining it for both parties. :(
  • I have had some great holidays too in private vans, I like it you know exactly what you are going to, always cheaper than going direct to the holiday company, and the owners are always very helpful and nice. I guess i just run out of luck and got a bad un, so this years holiday if we can get a van now will cost double :(

A scheme where people leave comments might by a good addition to Direct Caravans page, like eBay. I know its not fail safe though. Hope you have more luck in future. :)

I run a website advertising caravans and I have had so many positive reviews off happy holiday makers so whenever someone contacts me I always refer them to this to try and give them some peace of mind although its not a guarentee if possible try and seek out reviews before booking. I hope you get your money back!

  • I have also paid a deposit for a caravan in Perran sands from a well known website. I am having doubts as I have not received any confirmation despite my asking them! now they want full payment before sending booking forms. Sounds odd to me as I have booked many good caravan holidays with excellent communication from the owner as well as always receiving confirmation and details. Any advice would be appreciated.
    Cheers

Have you had any kind of acknowledgement of payment? I don't usually send out the full confirmation of the holiday until they have paid in full but I do contact them by either text, email or facebook to let them know I've received their deposit. I'm always contactable to them for any concerns they have and I have many happy customers.
