What about paying your auntie yourself out of your DLA? thats what its for to help with your care needs. Its a bit much that she has to pay for her own petrol when you will get this dont you think? I dont know how you can let her foot the cost of petrol herself when shes doing you a good turn.
Also try for direct payments and careers allowance like the others have said. But you need to put your hand in your pocket in the meantime.0 -
Thank you for the advice I will look into it.

Why the hell are people SO quick to judge re the above quote. I am so upset by this comment - My Mum has just died - I am no doubt going to have to leave the house when I have been all my life as I can't get a mortgage - every penny of my benefit is going towards paying for my Mums funeral as I cant get help off the Goverment - I cant even afford to pay for my pre payment perscription - A friend warned me about joining this site as she said ppl can be so nasty and you have prooved her right - I am sat here in tears due to your comment so maybe you should think twice next time someone is asking for help.
Thank you all the others for the positive comments x0 -

Im sure that post wasn't intended to upset you, it was a direct comment and remember reading something nearly always comes across differently than hearing it spoken.0 -

I think you're overreacting - nobody has been unpleasant to you here. If your aunt only looks after you for a few hours a day then she won't be doing enough for her to claim CA anyway.0 -

Can't you apply for a Funeral Payment?
https://www.gov.uk/funeral-payments/eligibility0 -
The op says on incapacity benefit so funeral payment not applicable0 -
The OP has a brother who im sure can help and according to her other posts has £1600 coming into her household a month, so im presuming (maybe wrongly) she wouldn't qualify for funeral costs help.0

Maybe I was overreacting - was just the way I was told ' I dont know how you can let her foot the cost of the petrol and that I should put my hand in my pocket' that I found to be very harsh and unnecessary.
Thanks for the advice about the funeral - I am not on the right benefit to get help with the funeral costs which were £3300.00and have been given 28 days to pay it before they take further action. Also I am trying my best to pay the household bills so every penny counts I was just asking about carers allowance to help pay for petrol so my auntie could continue helping me.
Thanks anyway.

did your mum have any insurance?
i would really suggest that you contact social services if you dont already have a social worker.
obviously after your loss, things will be even more overwhelming than usual and an outside pair of eyes may see solutions that you are missing0 -

Firstly Im sorry for your loss and secondly I wasnt being nasty I was stating the facts on the information that you had given. I didnt know that you were having all these difficulties.
The fact remains however that the government is giving you money to help with your care and or mobilty needs if you get DLA.So you should in theory pay your aunt out of this. Its not the gOvernment or the taxpayers fault that you are now having financial difficulties because your Mum has died.
If you have family members like brothers and sisters can you ask them to help regarding sorting out your Mums financial affairs? Also like someone elce said you need an assessment from a Social Worker who will be able to help you further with all the financial issues. You can also go to the CAB and if you cant get there they sometimes do home visits.
I hope you manage to get things sorted out as it does sound like you are really struggling.0
