Where has my broadband gone???

Very strange this one so bear with me whilst I explain.

I am currently with sky broadband and line rental but I'm changing to BT on the 8th Febuary. My broadband was disconnected on Wednesday the 30th of January, I contacted sky regarding this matter only to be told that according to their system my new ISP had taken over my Internet. I then contacted BT to ask them why it had been taken over 10 days before my activation date to which I have been told that they have not taken it over and that sky are lieng. I rang sky back to tell them this info and a very nice gentlemen explained to me that he will look at the BT TAGS ON LINE site to find out he did this and according to that site my ISP is BT RETAIL. I then rang BT and the first thing I asked was can you please check your BT TAGS site and tell me what it says he did this and said the same it says my ISP is BT RETAIL. I then asked why have you taken over my Internet 10 days before my activation date to which he replied we haven't sky still have your broadband even though their system says BT RETAIL has my broadband I then asked to speak to a manager to which I then got disconnected.

So to summarise According to sky they don't have my Internet and according to BT neither do they, so I ask where is my Internet?

Sounds like you aint got one at present. Sky cut you off too early. Mis-information flowing from sky to BT and vice versa.

The problem for some of us has been that our ISP (Orange) has continued to bill us for payment long after we have migrated to another ISP. So, in our case we have had two ISP's simultaneously providing a service. You have got none. Nothing should surprise us. :)

But I do sympathise. It is hell to be without the internet when you have come to rely on it on a daily basis.

Have you tried logging in with your BT supplied hub/modem?
You do realise that your Sky modem won't work with BT?
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • I won't get my BT router till the 8th Feb and yes I realise it won't work on my sky router. The main problem is why have BT taken over my broadband 10 days early then claim they haven't?

I suppose the fact you got disconnected when you asked to speak to a BT manager tells us a lot.

The new ISP informs the old ISP when it has taken over the service. Looks like BT jumped the gun in telling sky it had taken over your service when it is not in a position to do so until the 8th of Feb. Hence sky closed it down.

Does not help you much. Looks like you are going to be without broadband until the 8th of Feb.

They sent me my homehub on the same day they started my service.

Not a good start for you. But if it is any consolation. I started with BT broadband in December and I am very happy with the service.

You'll have to wait for the BT OR engineer to pop down to the exchange and move your tie pair.
