I don't do a weekly shop. I just buy things when they are on offer, got YS on them or like things like dried herbs and spices when I run out.
This is how i shop, i find i dont waste any food this way. I also know whats in my fridge/freezer and cupboards and plan around what i have and also buy YS veg to use on the night as well as fruit if i can get it.
  • perhaps if you want to try online shopping you could do just 1 each payday for stuff you know will run out such as loo roll and cubourd essentials and 1 weeks fresh stuff then the other 3 weeks do a meal plan and just get what fresh stuff you need

So everytine I go shopping I always buy more than I should. It is pointless me making lists because even though most people say it works I always tend to stray. I would buy online but it is not worth it for something as minor as toilet roll and milk and I need to stop because that is what is biting most of my monthly budget and I am not eating what I already have just restocking like a squirrel.
    Any ideas or helpful hints?

Shop less often, have a list, go only to those aisles if you can not trust yourself not to pick up only what you need.
By doing a bigger shop less often you can then perhaps shop on line and be even less tempted than walking around a store.

Nothing wrong with restocking as long as you know what you have and when it need to be used by, if you overstock make sure you rotate and make a point of using. Also keep a list in the house of things you are running out on and take that with you shopping, if it's not on the list then you don't need it!

If you just need a couple of items as someone else said just go directly there & don't look at anything else. Also don't get a trolley use a basket you'll be more aware of what you're buying or if you just need a couple of things carry them in your hands without a basket!
Or perhaps if you just need a couple of things the local shop might hold less appeal to pick up things you don't need, although each item will probably cost more than at the SM.
    Good luck! :-)

I need to do this, thanks! :o

I want to do the challenge but I'm finding it hard to work out as I get paid every 4 weeks (almost the last Friday of every month) can anyone help me work something out please.

I get paid every 4 weeks. I have two bank accounts. When I get paid, I work out which direct debits are going be paid between now and 4 weeks time, round it up to the next £5 and transfer the difference of my pay and the bills amount to another bank account. In this 2nd bank account, this is my money that I can spend on what I want.

For example, last month, I got paid on the 25th and this month, its the 22nd so I didn't add any DDs that come out between 22nd and 25th as they will been taken from Feb's pay.
