Find someone to take on the commitment, and transfer it. Other than that, request to leave and pay the price required, selling the handset. He really shouldn't take out a contract as the commitment is not cost effective unless you complete the minimum term.0

A friend has offered to buy the phone, my son would add the balance to buy a pay as u go I-phone and just put his sim card in that and carry on with the contract as it has all his needs, or do you think the shop where we got it from would be able to (or interested in) doing a deal with him having so long left on the contract.0

The 'cheapest' way forward is to advise him that he committed to a 24m contract, and that if he wants a new shiny iPhone every 6m then he'll need to maybe finance it himself. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

You have as much chance with another store as with the original one. My friend sorted something similar through phones4u - it did cost a lot though it was easier as the store took the blackberry in part exchange.
Another thing to bear in mind is that an iphone from apple would be unlocked, whereas one bought with a contract would be locked.
Yet another thing to bear in mind is that the sim card needs to be a different size!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I wouldn't rush into an Iphone.
Would rather wait and see how the new Blackberry Z10 performs. Apparently its amazing and better than Iphone0 -
He called into the store today and basically got told, tough 18 months left on your contract so we don't even have to pretend we want to help. That's £120 a month and four contracts that wont be getting renewed when they are up.0

Are you serious????
Its a contract, a 2 year contract you have to ride it out. Why should they help you just because someone wants a different phone.
Unbelievable!!!!0 -

I also find your comment unbelievable, Iv always though when someone asks for help support or advice if you have nothing positive to say the best thing to do is say nothing.0
