Collective Switch and Save Gas & Elec 'Lowest Bid' tariff

Hi all, I don't frequent the boards much so apologies if this has already been posted.
I am not involved in any way with this, but just wanted to spread the word about the 'Surrey Switch and Save' gas & electric collective switching scheme currently being advertised, as it seems such a good deal for consumers.

You don't have to live in Surrey, as its applicable for anyone living anywhere in the UK. Sign up is free, and you don't have to commit to switch to the chosen tariff once the final supplier quote is provided.

You can sign up any time from now, up to and including 25th February 2013. After that, a reverse auction will be held to get energy providers to give their lowest bid for the custom. Quality of service will also be factored in, so anyone with rubbish service won't be considered if they are 'just' the cheapest but provide poor quality service. I have already signed up.

The initiative has been set up by Surrey county council, but anyone who lives anywhere in the UK can sign up. I thought this seems a deal everyone can't lose from finding out about, and MSE has helped me out countless times and saved me so much money, so I wanted to spread the word if it can help others save too

This seems to be a volume based discount, so the more users sign up the better. Imagine if everyone who subscribes to MSE signed up - the bulk discount would be huge
