Sick Note & Going Out

In my view, don't do it you can wait a week to see your colleagues. Asking them to pop over after work for a cuppa is different but not you getting to them.
Although I agree that if you are well enough to go out socialising you are well enough to be at work. Apart from going to the supermarket I don't think you should go out when being off sick. (Obviously this is generally speaking and there are exceptions but I don't think it's here in this case).0 -
Get them round your house via the cake shop. It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

Being "off sick" as you call it does not mean that you need to stay confined to your house with the curtains drawn its not 1950. Some poor advice on this thread.0

Alot of them are views that people would do which they are entitled to.
Whether to go out really depends on the job you do and what you are doing when you go out.
The op works with a screen alot so going out for a coffee isn't that much of an issue but going to watch a film at the cinema....that would be an issue.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -

I agree. If someone is off work with a broken leg, it doesn't mean that they have to sit in all day with their leg resting on the table. They're allowed to hobble about.
Also, I'm guessing the OP will need to rest their eyes. You don't have to fully focus on a cup of coffee to drink it. Being at work all day is a different matter and would require a lot more attention. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
Take your week off and go enjoy coffee with your friends.
If your eyes are red and sore then of course you should not be at work, how some can say that if your well enough to go out for coffee then your well enough to work is complete rubbish!0 -
Go meet your friends for coffee or lunch.
It is better that you get out and about than sit at home where there is little to do other than try to watch telly or read, both of which could be detrimental to your eye recovering.0 -
I don't think any reasonable employer will have an issue with an employee who is signed off because they are unfit for work doing other things (which are not the same as work duties and therefore the employee can do) during the time they are signed off. There are instances where going out and doing some things while someone is off sick will actually aid their recovery and help them get back into work.
In many offices there are some colleagues who will make an issue out of people going out while off sick and think/say negative things about it but that is more a sign of their ignorance than anything else!Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
why would they not let you take holiday instead?zzzLazyDaisy wrote: »It is a breach of the WTR
