Which PAYG?
Ok, so I need a new phone - so much choice, networks, don't know where to start
Hence, i'm asking if any of you clever people can help me decide;)
I want a basic PAYG mobile with a decent camera & camera phone, i only spend about £10-£15 a month on my Orange PAYG and of course being an MSE'r I don't want to part with a lot of cash:rotfl:
I was thinking of maybe getting a £59 one from Tesco, using the free £20, unlocking the phone and then putting my Orange sim back in (or would it really be as simple as that?) The Tesco leaflet says i can keep my present number - so how does that work then?
Then again there's maybe some options using Quidco...
any ideas or suggestions appreciated
TIA

Have you thought of going on contract ? You can get 500 mins cross network or 75 mins cross network and 600 texts free each month from the 3 network and get a free sony ericsson K610i which is exactly wahat your looking for for £15 per month, and this is £15 per month for life.
Deal is here

You can also keep your same number by asking your network for the PAC Code and when you ask about the contract give them the PAC code and they will port your number over so you have the same number0 -

You can port your number over to Tesco from Orange by getting a pac code from orange, it's free of charge. If you spend 15 a month, you could go onto the Extra tariff where you call calls for 10p and texts for 5p - The policy for Tesco phones is one of the best if something goes wrong with the handset, within 28days you can exchange/refund in store, and after 28days but within six months you can still get a refund, but you have to send it to their repair centre which they check the fault and send it back with a letter for you to take back into store and get a full refund or exchange, after six months they will attempt to repair no more than three times, they will give u a full refund after that..
Hope this helps.Bank Charges won £4,800 in 2006 From LloydsTSB

I may have trouble getting any help from Orange as my sim isn't registered to me and I couldn't sign up for any credit to be added by CC as I don't know which of my large family it was registered to originally! I doubt they'd be happy to give me any details.
I think I'd like to stay on PAYG as I spend nearer to £10 a month than £15 mostly, and sometimes I don't add any credit at all. I'm not sure I'd like to be obliged to buy the talktime. What would happen if I didn't spend the required amount?
I will look up that link though and give it some thought, thanks. Aren't 3 the network that glues the sim cards in their phones though?0 -
I've just had a quick look at that link, do you mean the Direct Text 675 option?
It does look rather good actually but the offer ended on 30.04.07so I didn't delve too deep into it..

There not glued on contract (In fact I have not come across a glued one yet) but for the cheapest deals on pay as you go then its orange, and tesco and even O2 and you will be able to keep your same number anyway.0

Yes there is that deal and also one where there is 500 mins free but no texts, I am pretty sure the offer is being extended till the end of may0 -
Oh yes, if i keep clicking as if I want to buy it says till the end of May, which it doesnt say on the initial screen.
I may just go for that, many thanks.0 -
If you dont mind getting a reconditioned phone for an extra £2.50 a month you can get 300 minutes, 1000 texts, or 750 minutes and 150 texts.

If you didn't spend the required amount, you'd not get the low cost the next month.. you have anniversary dates
With regards to payg - if you're a texter then i'd suggest O2 top up 10 a month and get 300 free texts
Tmobile would be if you were into wap

Been thinking about this and I will go for the sony ericsson K610i but still on the PAYG option. It's £59.97 in Tesco with £20 credit. Will I be able to unlock this phone OK? I've been able to do this easily with other phones.
I'll risk the warranty being invalid (if that's the case) as it will only cost me £40 if it lasts the 12 months and probably longer.0
