have you tried switching off your phone, removing the battery, then putting it back in and switching on again? I don't know why, but this seems to work as an update/reset on Android phones (same with blackberrys).0

I got sick of having to uninstall and reinstall Whatsapp to get an extension of free Whatsapp after my 12 months expired. I paid the 69p required to keep it active for another 12 months.
Ive also downloaded Kik which is another Android messaging service because my son uses it but its nowhere near as good as Whatsapp. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Don't forget Whatsapp is - technically - a spyware.

Why not get your family to move to Viber? It's also multi-platform, free and allows free texts and calls between Viber users.

I've not used What's App for ages but I remember having to pay 69p for it from the (iPhone) app store. I didn't realise it was a subscription service?
If you've all got iPhones or iPads consider using the iMessage function, or Facetime for video conversations - it's free as long as you use it over WiFi otherwise you'll have to pay for any data charges to your network operator.0 -
Strangely my wife uses whatsapp as well but she'snever bbeenasked rto pay for it, can't work it out how some are askedtto pay and not others.0

Iphone as always paid for it AFAIK
Android never paid for it till last year now everybody pays for it from now on apart form people who had it before last year they get it free for life...Me and the wife have it for free life.
When you sign up for it now you get it free for a year then you have to pay.
Also remember Facebook own it now so you will have to pay somewhere a long the line with them.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0 -
I had mine way before my wife had has. It's not about the mone, but just odd though that same service yet others pay.0
