Hi can i ask where you are going to?
If you are travelling to florida and NEED a credit card as a deposit on the car there are other ways round it, You can pay a one off wavver fee, Usaually about 60-80 dollars on a debit card and this covers you completely and means you dont need to have a creditcard registered with them, Ive done this everytime, Mainly for peace of mind as the excess is usually a few hundred dollars. This is from my experience and ive used most companys over there.
Let me know and ill dig for ya.

Cheers James!
Unfortunately I'm not lucky enough to be going to Florida! I'm going to the Algarve.0 -
Should be the same for them mate, I know all the big firms have something in place which you pay locally when you are there, A credit card is taken to pay excess, If you pay a wavver fee you dont pay the excess which means they dont need your card registered. If the company you have booked with dont do it shop around as i can guarrantee you there are ones that doit.0

Just done a little checking, Most companys abroad will only see the visa symbol on your card so wont know the difference, They will usually take a hold payment of around 200 euro on your card which will be returned when you give them the car back. You will be fine mate.0

Cool! I'll have a look, cheers!0

Why not get another family member with a card to pay - you then pay them back and they can nominate you as the designated driver?0

To be honest, yeah, I did. But I thought they were obviously going by my account conduct, I have my regular salary etc going in DDs going out, never had charges and have some savings with them. Also, with my defaults being a few years old and satisfied, I didn't think they were having as great an affect.
Thanks for your reply, albeit I feel you're being a little condescending.0 -
RBS do the same. You can be accepted online for CC, bank account, whatever and get the welcome emails and stuff. Then a week later you get the 'computer says no' letter.

It would be better if they said 'accepted subject to approval' or suchlike so you don't go making plans.0 -
Well, I've just phoned and the appeal has been declined too!0
