POLICE follow this van ???

Options
can anyone explain this sign that appears on most security vans?

does it mean the police follow the vans on a regular basis if they have nothing else on?

or is it asking the police to follow the van?

is it all a big bluff?

i will sleep better at night if someone can explain this :o

oh and whilst i am on - do workmen really remove all tools from their vans every night??

I bought a packet of dry roasted peanuts the other day. I noticed on the packet it said "WARNING; May contain nuts".
    PLEASE NOTE

i seen a fruit drop van today (company delivers fruit to your desk) and it said "There are no bananas left overnight in this van" which made me chuckle.

Occasionally in our shift briefing we are asked by our Inspector to follow cash vans. These requests normally follow a cash in transit robbery or some general intelligence about an impending threat.
  • We have often wondered what it ment and our conclusion was that it had a tracking device and if stolen the police could follow it !!

Thought peanuts were actually legumes (pea and lentil family) and not a true nut............:D sorry. I'll get my coat.

It might be a message to the police, not for general info to everyone else

If the police want to speak to people in a security van, there may be standing arrangements that the van will not stop immediately on request, but instead it will go to a certain place and the police follow it.

This is to avoid the van being hijacked by fake police cars.

Of course, if the van fails to follow the agreed route, then perhaps it has already been hijacked or stolen, and the police will realise

Or maybe the message is ambiguous and is also warning would-be miscreants that there could be surveillance

As ado said, we are occasionally asked to follow these vehicles if there is intelligence regarding a potential CIT robbery, or if there has been a robbery, to provide hi vis prevention and reassurance.
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

The message means what you want it to mean. The police do follow it for the reasons already given.
It could also pass a message to the would be robber that police do routinely follow it, perhaps making them think twice. It also says to the police who would wish to stop it that they will go to a safe destination to stop.

It means the same as putting dolphin friendly on a jar of peanut butter.

It is written in the imperative (a order that Police must follow this van when they see the sign) ... but it means what brat and ado said!
