Evening all...... been MIA for most of this month but have tried to keep up with the reading if not posting..

Been abit busy here had 3 birthdays, 1/2 term was last week for us, and spent most of time online booking hotels as cheap as i can and trying to get as much cashback as humanly possible and using my Mr T cc to get some points on the purchases. stare-screen-smiley.gif. Just going through debts and stuff and managed to balance transfer 4 ccs to 0% for 6 months - not long i know but every little helps and i cant get more credit so have to juggle what we have. :D

Havent overpaid the CCs this month but left money in bank to pay off overdraft on one account as seeing it in the red all month left me more demovativated IYKWIM so this week is hopefully last week in the od on one account :j:j

As we go away in 4 weeks we are now trying to use up from the freezer along with yellow stickers... i currently now have a glut of tortilla wraps as they were 19p each :rotfl:if anyone has any ideas.
    Updating .................................................
  • oh and as for :xmassign: i am already 1/3 of the way there thanks to Boots 75% sale and a couple of grabbits :o

  • The negatives and the positives news!

Hello all! Ufff I just don't know where to start as I feel I have been far too long away from the forums but always thinking about you and wondering how is everyone doing at fulfilling their challenges!

The negative news is that so far every single Saturday of this month was an expensive day! This coming Saturday we are off to the south visiting family members and the following Saturday I will be going to London for a long weekend...

The positive news is that the above extravagant expenditures were budgeted for and I only hope to keep within the budget though...

The other positive news is that apart from my very expensive Saturdays these were the only days I have spend money on... therefore I have accumulated 16 FSDs! :T

The positive effects of having got rid of the television at home is endless I think! My kids are impressing me with their new acquired talents! My kids spend more time playing the piano, painting, reading, drawing, and creating! they have become very imaginative therefore creating and being resourceful!

    Sending you all positive vibes...

I will succeed and you too!
    No debts 🙌
  • Morning everyone - the weather here is not as glorious as yesterady but its not raining so that's a bonus.

It sounds as if a number of people have been lurking but still succeeding - which is fabulous - all down to your influence Kat!

Today is a visit to the dentist  and then some ebay postage. Other than that I would expect today to be a SFD. Payday is friday so I am limping across the line. I just need one more cc bill before I can declare the debt repayment - but its looking good.;)

On a bright note to finish, hubby has got his phone back. Someone handed it in at the bus station on Monday morning :)

This is very cool! Hubby needs to pass on the good fortune and helps someone else when he sees fit. Together we can make this world a better place ..(...bleurrrrgh).. but you know what I mean...

So glad you didn't have the expense of replacing it!! :T

  • Morning Chickadees!

Glad to see everyone raring to go despite falling by the wayside a little during FEB. Don't know what it is but it's clearly catching Don't worry we will be back on track in March!!!..( ...or I will hunt you all down, slap the hand that punches in the pin number and fine you with an extra 3 SFD's...:rotfl:)..

I got home late last night and was ready to bed for 9pm. I had a look at some of the books that I have listed on my Trade-In account and felt a little despondent! Some I bought for £25-£35 and they are only worth 25p on Amazon. Yes there are some worth £4 but the nice books I think will go in a hard box and stashed under my bed. Looking at a bookcase ( that's loaded with things balancing on it as well ) is not allowing my head to remain clear....that sounds weird but whats that saying about an "clutter free house equals a clutter free mind" or something like that. Well it rings true with me, more so now that I am moving soon!!!

So I am thinking that if I get rid of the carp that is under my bed, that's where the books will go. A quick run to TK Maxx for a nice hefty box for the special books that will keep them away from damp and dust. Then the others can be put in cardboard boxes courtesy of Mr S and Mr T...( seriously do not understand why people buy boxes for moving)...

My workplace now gives us our payslips online, this is apparently saving them buckets of cash per year and for me it saves more trees. Everyone is happy. But I am literally hanging off the end of my chair waiting for them to load it up....I am SO worried that I won't have enough coming in...

In March I have one weekend away with 23 other women as part of a volunteer organization that I have joined..( incidentally I have to pay a refundable £200 over the course of the next 5 months for uniform ).. but the other weekends are being spent hitting the overtime. I am working this Saturday night, skip a week, then another Saturday night THEN hopefully I have two week of Saturday AND Sunday which is all double time....

I am just terrified I won't earn enough so on my quest to save save save for the impending house move and the holiday I am going to drag you all with me and REALLY lay down the law in March. You have been warned! :rotfl:

Right.. off to scheme a great scheme that will end all schemes of a lesser sort and hammer it in for March that EVERY PENNY COUNTS!!!!

    Onwards and UPWARDS!!!!!

  • Looked through my books and found a few text books etc. Unfortunately, they're from my uni days and old editions (90's) and they're not on the amazon trade in. As they're quite heavy too I'm not sure how or if to sell them. Had a few other books on Amazon for ages (months) even some being the lowest price but they don't shift :(

Just found WeBuyBooks.co.uk. Apparently they work like MusicMagpie. So I give them a try tonight. And maybe also start listing hubbies CDs on Magpie as I don't think he'll ever get round to digitalising them anyway.

  • Thriftylass - try Zapper (www.zapper.co.uk) as well - last year I sold a number fo books for my parents and had all three sites open trying to get the best deal for each book.

Kat - I am for pulling the corset ever tighter - we are all behind you although your name could be changed to Miss Whiplash me thinks!!

Dentist went fine but not a SFD I am afraid - ambushed by chocolate (hangs head in shame). Off to update my spreadsheet x

    Hi Kat and everyone else,

I've been locked away in the front room much of January and up to the middle of last week, doing exam marking and earning some bucks for my mortgage deposit. It is extremely time consuming and meant I didn't have to time to come on here and see what everyone was up to, but I know you have all be probably been persevering with the money saving/spinning.

I will definitely be signing up for March, as I've just been to the bank to enquire about mortgages and it is clear that a 10% deposit will save me big bucks (about £80 to £150 a month). So I now need to get very focused on saving more and spending less. Your help, support and guidance will be much appreciated.

Your image of me painting the walls of my new house, in the summer, is still motivating me Kat. I hope to be in the house by Julyish, but need to now do some serious cut backs. Just gonna set up an excel spreadsheet (or do any of you know of a good template on this wonderful yet gargantuan website?).

Another great development is that I've met a lovely man and am hoping that he will become part of my future and can enjoy my new house with me. :j:j:j:j

    Onwards and certainly upwards!!!!!!!!!

  • Just a thought, inspired by another thread I read while ago....

What does everyone miss since they have started this? What have you refused to give up?

    I miss:
    Costa coffee
    My plastic nails
A mid week take away when I'm very tired
Trips to the £ shop on my lunch break
    Redbull
    New clothes

And over the past 12 weeks i've realised that no matter how hard I try, I can't do my own eyebrows. The look carp. So i will go back to getting them done. I will try and do it as sparingly as possible and ONLY when I have got occasions coming up. NO MORE than once a month. And i've found somewhere that does them for £4. So for the first time in nearly 2 months, today I like my eyebrows.
