Looking to re-arrange my Virgin setup.

Hello. I have the following package with Virgin. XL TV, M Phone and up to 60 MB Broadband. I am 3 months in to a 24 month contract. This bundle costs me £37.40 for the first 6 months, and then £59.90 for the remaining 18 months. I also have a Virgin Mobile on contract, 24 months at £15, first 6 months are £7.50. I have had the mobile for little over 1 week.
Recently my partner and I have decided, we have never really used the landline, and we hardly watch the tv. After checking things out on the Virgin websites, we would much rather, get rid of the TV and Phone, upgrade the Broadband to the up to 100 MB package with no landline needed, and also get a second Mobile contract with them.
The Broadband package I'm looking at costs £35 a month for a 12 month contract, first 3 months being £30. On top of that I'd have 2 mobiles on £15 per month combined, for 6 months, then £30 per month after that. So on my current plan I'll end up paying £74.90 after 6 months all in. On the plan I'd like to switch up to, I'd be paying £65 after 6 months.
The question I have, I have beein looking around the internet for answers to some of my queries. I must admit, I am worried by peoples experiences with how ruthless Virgin seem to be in regards to implementing these "Cancellation Charges" and "Penalties". The whole point of me wanting to switch around is because I am not in a very good place financially right now. The last thing I need is to be charged or penalized.
Any idea if Virgin would be open to letting me switch things up like this?

PS. I know it wouldn't seem like much of a save, changing from an eventual bill of £74.90 per month, down to £65, but also, this deal would mean I'd stop paying my TV license of £24.25 per month, and my fiancee's giffgaff of £10 per month. So all in all, the real difference would be from £109.15 down to £65!0

You're in contract, and not that far in either - any changes would make you fully liable for early termination charges.
These would be high due to the discount you have received on the bundle for 6 months.
There is no way Virgin will let you 'switch things up'.0 -
If you can receive tv as it is being broadcast on a computer, laptop or mobile phone you will still need to buy a tv licence.0

You'll be subject to 21 months ETC on the components you cancel. Not 'ruthless', VM are simply enforcing the financial penalty for you breaking the contract you agreed. No free lunch, and no free laptop

This is not strictcly true. You have to have a licence if you WATCH (or record) TV as its being broadcast. You do not have to have a licence just for having the equipment

As you are in contract all you can do is call 150 on your VM landline and select "thinking of leaving" to see what the retentions people will offer in the way of changes. As you are only 3 months into a 24 month contract I suspect that the answer will be not much. Make sure you pick "thinking of leaving" as retentions will be able to offer better options than normal CS.0
