    hi all,
i've been offered NTL broadband (level not specified, prob basic) for £15 a month. this is cos they messed me around so much over other stuff (i even got a £10, then £15, then £50 credit cos of all the hassle -tho you really have to argue for it and get the right, intelligent, well trained staff member who actually knows and cares about the service!) ...sorry about that, where was i? oh yes. i have a lovely mac laptop -i'm currently sitting outside in the sun, enjoying free shared broadband at my local arts centre. Should i take up the BB offer from NTL -it includes phone line btw- or is there going to be a MAC problem? i currently use ntl dial-up at home, rarely cos it aint cheap. i dont understand what my isp is, what a router is, how to input the details of my service (you should have seen me try to get my mac on-line after using pc at home!). thankfully my wireless card works all by itself when it finds a suitable site to connect to- although i've only found a couple so far in south wales, both arts centres.
hope youy can help me and please... speak slowly

    ta
if i had known then what i know now

There is NO problems using macs on broadband. I am using a mac now and have been for some time. All you need is an (NOT USB ) ethernet router/modem. The only problems you might come up against is the support from your ISP (The company who prvide the broadband eg Demon, NTL, Pipex, Freedon2Surf etc). Some ISP's have good support, other have sadly very little. I have a friend who uses his mac on NTL with no problems. If you need help see my previous post re help and advice.
