12 month Broadband Contract is up: should I stay or go?

I am currently with Madasafish for my 8mb internet package, but as I have been with them over a year I am sourcing out who is the cheapest provider. I pay £16.99 to MAAF at the moment and very rarely go over the 5gb download limit but I think soon I would do. My local exchange is only at 4.5mb and as I am 8km from the exchange get approx 3.5mb.
So I would need an 8mb (4mb minimum) broadband package, with a 10gb or unlimited download limit, for less than £16.99 a month.
I have Sky already installed and am on the basic BT package and I know they all offer broadband deals, so would I be better off going with one of them?
Any help would be much appreciated as the last time I checked out prices and service etc it was over a year ago.
For what it is worth, I had some teething problems with MAAF, but they were dealt with swiftly via a BT engineer, and after I started to use the Ethernet cable instead of the USB cable I had no connection problems.

Hi Essexdelboy,
If you PM me your Madasafish username I can have a look at your account to see if we can offer you a better deal.

I've also been with Madasafish for just over a year and am considering sourcing a cheaper deal.
I've never gone over the 5GB limit, and I certainly don't get the 8Mb speed as the BT line is so crap! I don't even get 1Mb!
So I'm possibly looking for somewhere that isn't going to charge me for speed I can't get anyway!
I will want to keep my domain name I got free from madasafish though. Don't want to go through the hassle of an email address change!
Can anyone suggest anything for me?
Thanks,

Hey Janineo,
Would you like for me to have a review of your line stats? I'd personally be interested to see if there was room to improve your speeds.
Of course if you've been with us for over a year we'll always offer you a better deal in exchange for a new 12 month contract.
Could you please PM me your username?
Thank you
Kind regards,

I left maaf for Sky bb a month ago. Apart from a couple of very short periods of not being able to connect (which also happened with maaf) I am very pleased. At £5/month for up to 8mB with 40gB of use (which btw you do not pay extra if you go above occasionally). Also a free wireless router for up to 8 computers it has to be a definate consideration dare I say bargain.
I also use my Sky credit card and when I spend £500 I get £5 off my Sky subscription giving me free BB for the month!0 -
Just to give you an update
I have changed from MAAF (8 MB broadband, £16.99 per month, 5 GB download limit) to Sky Connect (8 MB broadband, £5 per month, 40 GB limit).
As I already have Sky they offered me the package which has a free wireless router, and a ½ price activation fee (usually £40, but got it for £20).
MAAF did offer to reduce my bill to £13.99 per month, but on a purely economic decision I chose to go with Sky i.e. 12 months at £13.99 = £167.88 or £20 Activation fee & 12 months at £5 = £80.
Leaving MAAF was a difficult choice as Samara at MAAF and there customer services have always been helpful and true to their word. However to half the cost of my yearly broadband service and to get an extra 35 GB download limit, then there is no real comparison.Rock on MSE!!!0 -
Sky does work out cheaper if you already have Sky TV, but I don't, and I don't want it either.
Thanks for the suggestion, though.
I'll probably go with MAAF offer of £13.99 a month.0
