  • I'm currently switching to them too! Hmmm. Well, I guess every company will have issues and the like; let's just hope that we manage to get through this relatively unscathed...!! Just take regular readings and keep note of them!

I'm MANIC at recording everything to do with power companies, but its a madness that pays off!! I hope things go well with your switch. I'll follow with interest.
Have to say that I have no complaint so far with FU. Switch perfect, first monthly bill perfect, and I like the online account, as I can understand whats going on, and alter things easily. I'm :jbeginning to sound like I'm on their payroll, long may it last......

Seems to be moving as my current supplier just rang offering me a better deal and asking why I was leaving them. As I am changing through MSE cheap energy club, I don't know where this "better deal" was coming from, as there was no match on their site!

I think its a pretty standard response from some (or maybe all) of the big power companies. I'm sure your own comparison is more accurate than their attempt at keeping you. Hope it goes well - that sounds like you are about to embark on some life changing experience and not just changing supplier!:j

Me too. I always take readings weekly and check all bills so I always know exactly where I am at. Just hope my current supplier returns my £300+ credit in my account.
  • I am nearly 50 years old so I've dealt with a lot of companies in my time. I can honestly say that FU is the worst company I have ever dealt with by a long margin. I signed up to this forum just so that I could warn other people about them. Mr Energy Ombudsman, ban them. They are so incompetent and make one mistake after another, which causes stress and expensive phone calls. STAY AWAY and don't be tempted by their special offers...they seem to be taking on too many customers without having the ability or systems in place to deal with all of them.

Unfortunately it doesn't matter which power company you sign up to, you are never sure of good service. We all get different experiences of the companies. All we can do is keep records of everything, thus being prepared for whatever they might throw at us. Hopefully your next experience will be better, but there are no guarantees. good luck.:j

Just had an e-mail saying they will take 1st direct debit on 21st August which coincides with my supply date so looks like all going through in less than 6 weeks.
  • Has anyone been notified they have a major issue with billing?I haven't had a bill since May,despite logging monthly readings.'we have no definite resolution date to the issue at this time' was there last reply and attempted to calculate my bill manually but its not the correct tarriff.

This company are a joke, I have finally switched my supply from them but still waiting on my final bill. Have real problems getting through to their phonelines and they don't respond to emails. I had a query with my last bill and because it took me a few days to get through to speak to someone they sent me demanding letters and an absurd text saying my bill was 130 days overdue, the bill was dated for July and I had paid a bill in June so there is no way it was that overdue!!
They are imo unprofessional and obviously cannot cope with the amount of customers they have. I wouldn't recommend them.

Just had e-mail from 1st utility. They will take my first payment tomorrow. They have my opening readings so it looks like all systems go now in less than 6 weeks. Hope it goes well!

Wanted to share a positive experience...

Switched to FU over a year ago and have had no problems. Switch from nPower went very smoothly (more than what could be said for nPower who were utterly useless and managed to issue about 5-6 bills over the course of two months!).

Have had no problems since - they even arranged to install a new electricity meter all by themselves and that went smoothly. I quite like the ability to submit meter readings via SMS, although that might be something offered by a lot of the suppliers nowadays.

Can't recall having had to contact them on anything but I am happy enough to enter into a new fixed tariff with them.
