  • Here is my experience.

I initiated the switching process back in April 2014. While the electricity got switched on the 19th of May I am still waiting for the gas.

It seems they have been disputing the final gas meter reading but are unable to give me more details than that. To me it feels like they have lost the final reading. Although I didn't have that reading available I offered to give them an estimate. I have been pretty good at keeping records for years up until feb 2014 but then stopped as I didn't see the point :rotfl: (Ironic isn't it)

OVO seems to have started asking for gas readings but still no final bill from EDF. They did attempt to charge me >£600 in July to close the account but I kindly made them notice that the gas reading that was on the bill was 2000 units over my current reading :T

It seems that I am not the only one with EDF issues and yes their website is quite dismal. I really like OVO's though so no regret for switching so far.

I'll give EDF a call tomorrow to get an update on that final bill...

Seems everyone has a different story/experience.
End of May last year I joined for the Blue+Price Promise February 2015 dual tariff via the Cheap Energy Club. A little messing about at the start but things settled down quickly. I input monthly meter reads & pay by DD. Since April 2014 I've had numerous alerts from Cheap Energy Club telling me I've reached my £100 overpayment limit. I've updated my annual consumption on their site based on usage, but every time I check, my monthly payments are less than the cheapest alternative quoted. EDF even paid the outstanding credit on my a/c on the anniversary date, as well as lowering my DD.
I am baffled over the discrepancies but for the moment am staying with EDF.

The EDF Blue+ deal has come out top for me today.......

So - has it gone quiet because they're better now and worth moving to.......?

It's only £75 cheaper over the year, but fixed to 3/16 and no early release penalties.

Sounds good, but I don't need hassle - I'm looked after where I am now.....

    Viewpoints appreciated please... :)
  • We signed up to EDF Blue+Price Freeze March 2017 in Nov 2013.
Had staggered switch of Gas and Elec, 3 bills over this time to date, latest telling us our DD going up from £61 a month which is what we signed up for, to £128.month which is slightly more than we were paying with our previous supplier. Our gripe is that we were not warned until mid-Aug 2014 that we were in debit which would affect our monthly DD by more than doubling it.
I have been in contact with them and apparently they don't send out reminders to read the meters and only look at the overall bills once a year when they forecast the next year's usage.
Have not had any other problems re DDs or odd payments.
  • Having nothing positive to say on here about Scottish Power, I ought to redress tha balance by saying I found EDF to be pretty good and I just wish I was back with them.

I moved from Scottish Power to EDF just over 3 months ago.

EDF have been excellent, I contacted them using live chat before the transfer and have had to phone them afterwards, they answered the call very quickly, were polite and very helpful.
I enter my meter readings on the first day of each month online and have an accurate balance just afterwards.

This is the complete opposite to Scottish Power. I still have a complaint with the ombudsman about them. They always used to take 40 plus minutes to answer calls, my online balance was wrong by almost £100, billed for money not owed, and also even after three months they are STILL UNABLE TO PRODUCE AN ACCURATE AND FINAL BILL !!!
  • Hi,

We recently switched to EDF on their Blue price promise Aug 15 from Scottish power.

Took a while to get it all resolved as their was an issue with one of the readings between the suppliers but eventually moved ok.

Sent some meter readings after a couple of months (not requested ones) and found that we were £54 in credit, so all good i thought.
Next thing i get notification on the bill it created to say that our DD was going up from £116 to £139 per month... so got onto live chat and eventually got this reversed back to the original rate. Thought it was all ok then.

so now have submitted readings for the quarterly bill and we've ended up £184 in credit, so a bit high, but winter is coming so not too concerned. But, low and behold they decide to increase our DD to £138 a month now.

So yet again a chat with an adviser and i get all the usual blah about usage etc....before finally they agree to reduce the DD back to £116. Now in serious debate whether to move supplier, as there are some cheaper alternatives according to the energy club...just not heard of them so sceptical.

This will only be of benefit to a small number of people but it worked for me. I rejoined EDF from Npower in August 2014 on the Blue+ Price Promise Feb 2016. I recently noticed that this has been replaced by a March 2016 version. When I looked into it I observed that the Electricity price per kWh was dearer but the Gas price per kWh was cheaper, with no change to either standing charge. After checking with them that this was possible, I have moved my Gas onto the new tariff, whilst keeping my Electricy on the existing one. Figures indicate that I should pay approx £20 - £25 less per annum but I am guaranteed to save.:) BTW I live in Wales so have no idea whether this would work for EDF tariffs elsewhere.

All people have to do is check the right hand column on the front page of their next bill and it well tell them if either fuel is better off on any new tariff.

That's not an EDF thing, all suppliers should be doing it. It was part of the March 2014 Ofgem license condition changes

Went ahead with the switch today to Blue +Price Promise March 2016.

    I do wonder something though.

    When I did a check it said I could save £171 ... when I switched it said I would save £45 ....

Now, I am with Npower so it is got to be worth switching from the nightmare but I do wonder why the savings were inflated?
