Co-operative Energy reviews: Give your feedback

Whilst I'm usually on top of these things, checked today to find I'll be c.£260 a year better off with Co-Op Energy. Decided on them rather than the untried and untested Extra Energy, for £1 a year diff Co-Op seemed a better bet. New entrant teething problems are legendary, due in no small part to the convoluted energy switching system behind-the-scenes.
So I'll drop back in 3 months with some more info. I can't imagine they'll be worse than nPower! They still haunt me to this day.Friendly greeting!0 -
After much deliberation we started the switching process today to transfer to the Coop for a dual fuel deal which will hopefully provide us with a good saving of nearly £400!
This is the first time we have ever switched suppliers and will also update on the Coop's progress in the near future.0 -
I switched to the Coop in September and everything went smoothly.
I enter readings online every month and they keep thinking they are to far from the previous readings so I have to insist they are correct.
I've just had an email reducing my DD by £5 a month. I think it should have stayed where it was but the money is better in my bank account than theirs so I am not complaining.over 73 but not over the hill.0 -
We've been with the Co-op for electricity for approx 3 years. We prefer to pay a wee bit extra during the Spring and Summer to ensure we don't fall behind when Autumn and Winter arrive.
But the Co-ops billing system stops taking our direct debit when we're in credit ... maybe that's how it's been programmed, right enough ... but they last took our monthly direct debit in September and I've had to email them to prompt them to restart the debits. And now we're slightly behind with our payments, rather than being ahead of ourselves. No point phoning them, you'd have to wait 20-30 mins for a call handler.
I really like the whole idea of co-operatives etc. But as with Co-op Bank, it just doesn't seem to work very well in practice.0 -
I applied to switch to Co-operative Energy's Fair and Square March 2016 tariff today 29/12/2014. Will let you know how it goes.0

I have just applied to Coop deal as MSE Energy Club says I would have saved £363 pounds, But then the confirmation email say I would have £363 if I had not switched. really confused!0

Word of warning: the customer service from these guys can be awful - bordering on the comical (if you weren't paying to wait on the phone at 14p p/m).
I waited 23 minutes, and eventually got put through to what I assumed was the wrong place. Turned out the guy was from the 'over-fill department'.
He was able to help with absolutely none of my 3 queries. His sole job appeared to be to arrange a call back (since when are these non-automatic!). He did, I note arrange said call back very slowly.
My advice: just don't!:mad:0 -
We've been with Co-op Energy coming up on three years.
The switch to them was painless and during the time we've been with them, I've contacted customer services by email three times to request direct debit changes or to switch to a fixed tariff.
Never had to call them, so no experience to report. The website shows a freephone number 0800 9540693 or landline 01189 286213.I am a mortgage broker. Just decided to ditch M and S Energy as it turns out we've been on Standard Tariff since Feb 2014 and they've never let me know!
According to the Energy Club, Coop Energy would save us hundreds of pounds a year but, having applied to switch, I come on here and you're all slating them for customer service and long waits to speak to someone! Oh God, have I made a monumental c....p?0 -
Had no problems with them. I just got a renewal DD mandate and they putting it up from £77 pe month to £88 which ia fair enough as I knew it wasn't covering my usage and I made a couple of extra one off payments. My only gripe which they did monthly billing as Scottish Power and British gas have done for me if I submit readings.0
