  • I have changed to spark! I switched about 6 months ago. Saving money and happy to pay up front every month if it means i save. I have had to contact their help line and no issues as I used the call back process. I have also installed solar panels a week ago and they set up the account inside three days with the starting point the day the system was set up and running. They have a dedicated e mail address for the FIT application and they responded with the form (no site download available) immediately. OK, so the form looked a bit tacky and it was basically a word document but it worked. Contract sent back and forth by e mail. (It had a couple of errors which i spotted) but it has been sorted. No gripes so far.

I switched using the MSE energy club.. the switchover wasn't fast but I was forewarned of this.

I was due to move to BG's standard tariff after my cheaper one ran out, the Spark advance tariff is considerably cheaper. Also I'm due cashback for the switch and free cinema tickets every quarter.. it all adds up.

I have been set up on the spark advance tariff, though no upfront fee has been taken just a direct debit every month so far..but my account type is set to advance so all seems good.

My first bill is due December, I'll provide regular reads online.. so far so good.
  • I can't stress enough how terrible this company are. I know if you look for reviews on any energy supplier, they will be negative but this company should be avoided at all costs. Over the years I have pretty much been with every company out there, and had varying service. When I moved into my current property last year, Spark were the suppliers. It too nearly 8 months to move from them. Whenever I eventually got through to someone, they were very helpful on the phone, but nothing ever got sorted out and we eventually had bailiffs contact us about money that we did not owe them. I was really pleased that I had never given them my bank details as I have read many horror stories about massive amounts being taken from accounts. The only way we could get rid of them was by emailing the top boss who eventually sorted it all out for us. It was a complete nightmare from start to finish. Our end bill was approx £230, but we had various statements from them asking for £500+, and also bailiffs chasing us with their fees on top. DON'T DO IT, I would rather pay more for my energy than deal with this company again.

We've been with spark since march and never had a bill so I phoned today and gave them my meter readings, they say we are £350 in credit! We only pay £130/month which is a lot less than previously with npower. I chose to keep the dd the same and I'll see what the balance is after winter.
  • Spark are shocking with their customer service - i've just emailed them giving 8 weeks notice before referring to the energy ombudsman. Do not switch to them - you will regret it. I left them in May for electric & August for gas and have still received no bills.
  • Comes up cheapest by far when I do comparisons but I will not touch them since I seen them on watchdog. Please be careful when choosing this supplier. Just a friendly word of warning thats all.

We hadn't been getting bills from spark either so I've just contacted them and they sorted it via live chat. Bills now generated and sorted at the moment no complaints at all about them
  • Read reviews on spark energy before you switch! These are an appalling company with erratic billing, great price hikes & a micky mouse customer service department ( should you get through)
We did after a lengthy battle managed to escape from them, when paying the bills via our bank with spark energys own Giro payment slip, the bill kept mounting up & they made out we never made the payments! Good job we had the backing of HSBC bank to help us out with this long drawn out affair. Please avoid spark energy,, they will milk you & test your stress levels to the max,

Hi all. Have perused reviews for Spark and First Utility and Ovo on this site thoroughly and we're having a tough time deciding. Spark is by far the cheapest, but Ovo (third cheapest) have glowing reviews as far as I can recall. Any words of advice from anyone who has been with the both, by any chance?
