PS So there's no such thing as bad publicity, eh? Ask Gerald Ratner if he agrees.
Call it spin if you like, but this is what the article says:Spark says your bill resulted from a dispute concerning the opening meter reading when the supply was transferred from npower. The reading was evidently incorrect, but it seems that npower was not able to accept revised readings.
You then received a bill based on these very wrong figures – a bill Spark admits was erroneous as it should have only been saved on their system in draft form and not sent out. Spark says its internal controls would have prevented the bill going to debt collectors.0 -

Pity the reviews are so bad. I could save myself £14 a month by using this supplier.
I think i'll wait a bit longer and see if they can get their act together.:(This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Aye, stick with your reassuringly expensive supplier
£168 a year more? I bet your suppliers shareholders will be swigging back the Moet and raising a glass to the likes of you this Christmas.
Who are you currently with? Maybe I'll join them in raising a glass to you too0 -
That's mad, The Cheap Energy Club said I'd save £169 by moving to Spark Advance tariff, it took me to their website where I entered the same info again and Spark said I'd save £6.88! With all the bad reviews Spark are getting I think that level of saving is not worth the risk, don't know how they could get it so wrong though!0

I too have read all the negative comments made about Sparks but frankly as I have had bad service from the big boys (more than one) in the past I thought I would take my chances. The switch was completed with the minimum of fuss and I became their customer on 23/4. I have had to contact them several times just to clarify matters and their online chatting option is quick and excellent.:T However the email address which is in bold on every page of their website (support@sparkenergy.co.uk) never generates any sort of response. In one of my online chats I was told that this is solely for website support and that the IT team tend to ignore emails that were not meant for them, so they need to work on that (maybe change it to somethnig more obviously IT or get the techies to pass on emails)!
I have even today been offered a cheaper tariff (called Switch & Save) than the original one I switched to although I need to check the maths before changing:beer:
They offer a free cinema ticket (subject to account being in order) every quarter and I have just claimed my first which is in the post.
They may have had problems in the past, even the member of staff I chatted to today admitted that but they seem to be okay (although not perfect) now:T

They gave me a free Porsche. I can upgrade it for free to a Lamborghini next year :rotfl:0 -
Spark are the worst untility company I have ever used. And I didnt even want to be with them in the first place. I rented a house and it turned out that Reeds Rains have a back hander going on with spark, so although I was told when I moved in I was with NPower, within a week of me living here Reeds Rains transfered me over to Spark Energy. At the time I had tried to move myself over to EON so when the letter came "sorry you are leaving npower" I never thought anything of it.
After a few weeks I reveiced a letter from Spark saying that they were now providing my gas and electric and that I needed to pay them a £150 setup charge. For 7 months I tried to move to another supplier, 3 times they wouldnt let me move as I refused to pay any bills so had a debt with them. I went bankrupt in December so advised the of my bankruptcy and they reduced the bills so that I didnt have to pay upto the bankruptcy date. I still refused to pay until they let me leave. Eventually I joined my councils get cheaper energy program where they sent out a tender to alot of companies and got a good quote. Luckily they were able to transfer me over and im now with Scottish Power, paying by monthly DD. My bills are reasonable and I update my meter readings regularly and im currently in credit.
I have yet to hear anything from Spark so im assuming they have wiped the debt off. I guess its a bonus that I had free gas and electric for 7 months but I guess they couldnt take me to court for the money as I never signed anything to transfer over to them.
I would stay away to be honest, so what if they are a little bit cheaper, once they have you they will not let you go and they are giving back handers to letting agents to tie people in.0 -

Good assumption. Debts always disappear when they are ignored, don't they? :cool:0
