I very much doubt that a nappy for the purposes of the WCA is classed as an aid or an appliance!
It isn't. But I couldn't be bothered to reply to such an inane comment!I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
To be fair to Andy (can't really believe I'm defending him) I wear a nappy to work and have done for years. But it's very difficult to find an employer who will accept such a limitation, even once you get over the psychological issues of messing yourself regularly.
There's also a practical limit to the number of nappies you can carry around everywhere you go (I keep 5 spare in a laptop bag along with wet wipes, alcohol gel, sanitary bags and water sprays)
You have to be that much better than everyone else in all other respects to be considered for a job with this limitation.
So despite the fact that I do it, it is a major limitation in my ability to work or perform work related activity. And you're right, a nappy is not considered an aid or appliance for the purpose of the WCA - it's merely a receptacle.
EDIT: Just realised that I jumped back into this thread on the last page and forgot what it was about originally. I totally agree with zzzLazyDaisy and most others about the shocking changes to the ESA50 guidance. It's an abuse of power.0 -

Although a stoma pouch is (rightly) an appliance for the purpose of WCA.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

That's probably because acts as a substitute for something that no longer works or isn't there!0
