If i were to post advocating a particular company because i had a relationship with them then that would be a SPAM post, though i am not necessarily a spammer.

Following that line of reasoning then; either all posts with recommendations for a company/product etc. from members on these boards are spam, or the same posts are not worth reading/taking notice of as the person is not posting from experience with that company.

Sorry, I just don't follow you logic about what is and isn't a spam post.

    MSE Forum rules on spam.

    "What is spam?

Forum users mustn't post comments more than once on the forum (the only exception is members of the MSE Team; when needed). It's called spamming and most internet forums forbid it. Where spam is reported to the Forum Team, the posts are deleted and the user's posting privileges may be removed. Please don't quote any post you believe is spam, as this causes the team more work.
Several boards on our forum have a spam button. If enough forum users click the spam button on a thread, that thread will automatically be deleted. The Forum Team may choose to leave it deleted or re-instate it."
  • Could go to argos they sell sofas
  • i work for an independent retailer and every week we have people in telling us about the problems they've had with argos, dfs, harveys etc.
personally we bought a leather 3-2 from land of leather a few years back before the went bust. we were originally quoted 6 weeks for delivery, 13 weeks later it arrived. it originally started a beautiful brown colour and ended up orange on most parts, the recliners had bits falling off the, and in the end the only thing keeping the 3 seater together was the wall it was propped up against. We bought from them because they were selling it cheaper than what I could buy one at cost for.
You'd be surprised sometimes, the local stores can be just as good value & the customer service is alot better!

    I'll simplify it for you.

If i buy a car from fred bloggs motors and recommend them on here, then that is a valid post.

If my uncle owns fred bloggs motors and i recommend them on here whilst purporting to have dealt with them and as an independent recommendation then that is spam.

ie, its not an impartial recommendation.

The easiest ones to spot are the new users and the first thing they do is create a thread saying something like 'i've just saved loads of money on this site https://www.buylaptopsreallycheap.com'

Not so easy to spot are established users 'recommending' a company during the course of a thread not because they have bought from them or because they have received good customer service but because its their best mate owns it or its their uncles shop or whatever - ie, its not an impartial recommendation therefore making it spam.

All the above does not come within MSE's definition of spam - their site their rules, not your opinion as you have posted above.

Using your opinion, where do you get that i have any connection other than as a customer with SofaSofa, as you have now inferred twice (above and in both your previous posts).

I admittedly was mistaken posting in the Northern Irish forum - a genuine mistake on my part - YOU should really stop making inferences as to other posters honesty without any evidence.

Unsolicited advertising on MSE falls under the category of SPAM and will be removed by the mods. Otherwise these forums would simply be full of people just advertising their own or a friends business.

You seem to be making quite a fuss about this - whats the old saying - "throw a stone into a pack of dogs and the one that yelps is the one that was hit?"

Try answering the question I asked, which was "Using your opinion, where do you get that i have any connection other than as a customer with SofaSofa, as you have now inferred twice (above and in both your previous posts)."

As to fuss, maybe, but your constant inferences that my intention when posting about SofaSofa, was more than just trying to help another MSE'er, rile me.. My good character and name mean a lot to me, simple as that.

Or could it be "throw a stone into a pack of dogs and the one that bites you is the one you hit".

Firstly, i wasnt the one who initially suggested your post might be spam. I merely concurred that it could be.

Secondly, you said it couldnt possibly be spam as you are a regular poster. I gave you the context in which that might be considered to be spam.

You seem to have taken that rather personally. This is a forum. People have opinions. They share them. If you get 'offended' because someone suggested you *might* be a spammer, then maybe forums arent for you?

Firstly, i wasnt the one who initially suggested your post might be spam. I merely concurred that it could be. And after I altered the post to reflect my error and explained myself, your the one who unnecessarily chose to carry on the conversation, hence my responses.

Secondly, you said it couldnt possibly be spam as you are a regular poster. Not what I said at all, see below. I gave you the context in which that might be considered to be spam.

This is what I actually said "no spam just a genuine wish to help people. Maybe you should have a look through my other posts, you'll see very few, if any, references to this group of companies, hardly an action of a spammer then.:("

Thirdly, this is a northern ireland forum. You are a poster from the mainland recommending two companies from the mainland, whom when you scratch the surface turn out to be the same company. If it looks like spam and it smells like spam .... You really are obsessed with spam aren't you..........

You seem to have taken that rather personally. This is a forum. People have opinions. They share them. If you get 'offended' because someone suggested you *might* be a spammer, then maybe forums arent for you? I didn't get offended, the word was "rile" and the reason I am riled with you not the other posters is this unnecessary obsession you seem to have about spam and your continued inferences as above "if it looks like.........."

The forums are for me and I have no intention of leaving to please you; I will however make sure to stay very clear from the Northern Ireland one (note the capital N and I), to avoid any further issue regarding mainland UK companies.

I have added you to my very short ignore list so as not to be troubled by your opinions any further; you may wish to do the same with me.

    Goodbye:j.
