Two rate white meter
Hi, I'm a bit worried our day and night readings may have been mixed up.
I've been with Scottish power for 14 months and input my meter readings every 12-15 weeks. They increased our direct debit from £55 a month to £102 last August as we were in debit.
I've copied and pasted the current readings from the Enter Meter Readings Screen.

Meter: Two Rate White Meter Kwh - Night Kwh
Reading 1 which is shown during the day on my meter, says 'night' as shown above, and vice versa for Reading 2.
I've not checked after 11pm yet, but will do tonight to see if it changes to Reading 2.
Shouldn't Reading 1, which is shown in the day, say 'day' on the Enter Meter Readings screen?
Thanks in advance. (hope i've explained it well enough:o)

Your meter should indicate which registry is currently recording consumption.
Presumably records indicate that the meter is switching between registries.
Note that the actual time of switching varies between locations (and may also vary if you have an inbuilt timer on the meter that is not correctly set)0 -
Hi,
here's a wee guide from SP.
If you have been using your heating, then see what reading has advanced the most since your last bill, so that'll be the night rate.0 -
Thanks. The meter currently reads Rate 1, which is the lower set of numbers I have been inputting for my day rate, and going by the above link, my meter should read the night rate before pressing the button to cycle through the rates.0

Take two readings of bith rates a couple of hours apart. The one that's changed is the current one.
What you do if you find your rates are the wrong way round I don't know. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
I'll check it about 4.30pm. I know I'm worried in case we'll get a huge bill or something :mad:0

Hi,
do you have readings and accounts since you moved in?0 -
only what is on my online account. I have the readings for when I first moved in.0

Hi,
so how many units have you used day/night as shown on your account?
Could be in your favour if you've been paying day rate for your night rate, and vice versa, as I presume you'll have used more actual night units than day units.0 -
Number of days Total Daily Average Total Daily Average
06/01/13 - 23/01/13 18 561 31 n/a n/a
19/10/12 - 05/01/13 79 2210 28 n/a n/a
30/07/12 - 18/10/12 81 1474 18 n/a n/a
01/05/12 - 29/07/12 90 1807 20 n/a n/a
03/02/12 - 30/04/12 88 3982 45 n/a n/a
03/11/11 - 02/02/12 92 2805 30 n/a n/a
No idea what it all means! checked the meter, and rate 1 (the reading displayed before pressing blue test button) has changed.
Reading 2 has stayed the same0 -

Not sure if I'd better off as I work shifts so use quite a bit in the day.
£102 per month just seems really expensive for a 1 bedroom flat0
