Rabbit with bad teeth

Hi all, I've just booked an vet appointment for a rabbit my daughter took in at the weekend. She was given her by a friend who said she couldn't care for her anymore. The poor thing has watery eyes and I looked it up on the internet and I thought it might be her teeth causing it. I looked in her mouth and I think the top front two teeth are missing. The bottom front two are also quite long. To me it looks as if she only has the smaller teeth front teeth which are usually behind the long front teeth iykwim.
She seems a bit skinny but has been eating. I just hope she will be ok. It' such a shame

Our mini-lop has problems with his teeth. (A common problem for that breed apparently). His front teeth are fine, they meet when he bites and grinds so they wear each other down lovely. But his back teeth don't and grow all over the place with spurs. He has had dental work twice in his life (he's just over 3 years old). The first sign for Bun is a wet eye - according to our vet it's where the tooth grows and squishes the tear duct so it can't drain properly. I think it's a fairly routine operation - certainly our vet is experienced at it. (Requires a general anaesthetic though). You're doing the right thing by taking your rabbit to the vet
Now share some piccies

How did the appointment go?0

Hi, the appointment is this afternoon. Today she has a sticky eye and I had another look at her teeth and she definitely has no long top teeth, just a small spurred bit.
I've tried to put photo of her - hope it works.
I think she looks like a NZ White - she has a big dewlap.

Just noticed from the photos how sad she looks
Can't wait to get her to the vets, I so hope he can make her feel better. I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0 -
We're back. Not really good news though. Vet thinks she might have myxi or the symptoms may just be because of her teeth. She had four injections and we've got to go back on Friday or sooner if she hasn't eaten.I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0

Oh no I really hope it's not Myxi!! May I ask - is the vet experienced with rabbits? Did he have a look at her teeth? (With something that looks like the thing doctors shove in your ear?) Is she not eating (you said she had been in your OP)? (Bunnies stopping eating is serious).0

Hi, yes the vet had a good look at her teeth and said the top ones are definitely missing, the gums were inflamed and the back teeth were not right either. He felt her stomach and there was nothing compacted in there but in the hour we were there she hadn't done one poo. He gave her antibiotics, painkiller, fluids and something to get her stomach moving. I just don't know what to do with her because she still hasn't eaten

Has she got a favourite treat that you could tempt her with? Our Bun loves basil so when he's a bit sulky (like after his general anaesthetic) we tempt him with that.
If her top teeth are missing what is she using to grind her bottom teeth down with? Are they overgrown? I really hope it's just a case of her teeth needing some dental work.
PS We had a NZ White when I was a child - his name was Chalky, but I called him Mr Rabbit. Lol. I used to take him for walks around the back garden on a lead.0 -
That's a good idea, I've tried her with her usual food and a bit of apple but tbh I don't really know what she likes because we have not had her long.
Strangely the bottom teeth don't look overgrown - I think the previous owner may have known the poor bunny had a problem

Poor bunny. When did she last eat?
The other thing our Bun loves is fresh dandelions - don't know if you've got any growing near you you could offer her?0
