well you are lucky then are'nt you ? i have tried crutches i use them around the house thats all i CANNOT use them.... SO dont ASSUME i choose NOT TO USE THEM

If you use crutches around the house, can you not use them just to get into the centre, if someone can drop you at the door? They may pay for a taxi for you if no one can accompany you.

    I agree with this.

My son had a very bad accident in which his lower leg was crushed.
He had several operations, including one to insert a titanium rod from his knee to his ankle. Bone and skin grafts were done.

He was in hospital for a month and then crutches for another 5 months.
    He had to use crutches!

It no excuse really. I use to be broken leg but use crutches to jobcentre, doctor, hospital and dentist. It no big deal over can't get there. You have to go or ATOS will stopped your claim. You can't ask your doctor for can't get there because of your crutches! It your excuse to avoid ATOS.

That is wrong - if you are claiming ESA (which I assume this is what the appt is for, as you mention work), you should be in receipt of the assessment rate until you are assessed. The only time you do not receive payment is if you failed to attend a previous appt, or if you have reclaimed within a short period (six months?) of a failed WCA.

Not getting anything when i rang they said i will not get nothing until been to assessment

Then you need to ask why - what were you doing before you claimed ESA? Is this a new claim?

Do you live in a bungalow?

You said you were going to see your doctor - have they agreed to write a letter?

A lot of smart people on here who can walk with crutches. My dd was in the same position as you OP. Non weight bearing for several weeks. They originally told her the cast would be off in 8 weeks, unfortunately it didn't come off until 5.5 months later. The non weight bearing also resulted in her dislocating her opposite knee and shoulder. Underlying problem. She's now a part time wheelchair user because of her HMS going into overdrive after she broke the ankle :wall:

Some people who have coordination problems do find crutches impossible. A lot of people here fast to pass judgement.

I find it shocking that more ATOS centres don't have disabled access tbh.
