If you google this you won't be surpirsed to learn that this is not uncommon.
It appears that some venues are used on a temporary basis and therefore are not wheelcair accessible. Not sure if this is completely true or just an excuse.
As you have found you can ask to be assessed at home or ask for another venue.
If you want to take this further, writing to the ATOS centre, your MP, (google - it's very easy, Ive done it on a few occasions ), calling the local newspaper/TV station etc etc are all good ways of bringing this appalling situation to people's attention.0 -
Not much point in taking it further when all they will say is that they will make alternative arrangements.
Have you not got anything from the hospital that shows you are unable to walk at present? Are you not able to use crutches?0 -

No i cannot use crutches and as its an unstable break i do not want to risk putting any weight on my foot, as this may lead to surgery.
YES i do have something from the hospital to show i cannot walk it is a shocking pink plaster cast.:T :A :T :A:T :A :T :A :T :A0 -

I meant a letter! When is the cast due to come off? It is possible to rearrange the medical once, but they would only normally allow you to delay for a few weeks.0 -

You can attend, you are choosing not to. I managed to walk around for weeks with crutches when I broke my ankle.0 -

the cast is not due off for 3 - 4 weeks if all goes well, atos have not gave me the opportunity to change dates (which i dont really want) as its took 3 months to see them and i have no income in the meantime. I am off to my doctor now to see if she can help this ludicrus situation ..... medical assesment centre NO WHEELCHAIR ACCESS ????:T :A :T :A:T :A :T :A :T :A0 -

Have you asked them to reschedule? Why do you have no income - have you missed a previous medical?
Why do you think your doctor can answer the question, they have no relationship with ATOS?0 -

That is wrong - if you are claiming ESA (which I assume this is what the appt is for, as you mention work), you should be in receipt of the assessment rate until you are assessed. The only time you do not receive payment is if you failed to attend a previous appt, or if you have reclaimed within a short period (six months?) of a failed WCA.0
