Does anyone know of a mobile phone solution to chip and pin? I gather iZettle doesn't process Visa - who does?
We are staging a big charity event in March and really need to sort this. Many Thanks.

I have just signed up for mobile world pay. After much research it seem to be the most appropriate on th market. Others have Li it actions. izettle has the problems with visa and others were maxing the sale out at £1000.
Haven't yet had confirmation from mobile world pay as only signed up on Friday, so hopefully will be sorted on.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
We filled in the online forms on a Sunday night and posted the signed direct debit forms on the Monday.
Terminal delivered by courier and up and running on Thursday! :j0 -
I was looking into getting some sort of mobile payment up and running, as we do fairs etc throughout the year..
I had seen that izettle plastered over facebook, and didnt want to sign up for it, as I was unsure if there could have been any blips with it..Work to live= not live to work0 -

Is it easy to use?
Do they send you something that looks like a 'proper' card machine?
( like the one on the left on the bottom of the home page) or is a gizmo that you plug into your mobile phone?
We only do a few fairs/events a year, and might get 1 or 2 people asking do we take card payments, so I dont want to sign up for a mobile card payment thing from our bank, with will be something like £25 odd a month plus card chargesWork to live= not live to work0 -
Can l ask, does the Mobile World Pay come with a merchant account? Couldn't find much reference to it within the Q&A's.0

Oh yes! You get a proper hand held terminal that is not much different than you would use in a supermarket or anywhere else so the customer is re-assured.
Have a look at this page: https://mobile.worldpay.com/
The main picture of the terminal held by a hand is exactly what they sent us.
You charge the terminal with the supplied charger or via the usb port of your computer and connect via bluetooth to your smartphone. There is a once only sequence to input your account details (sent via email) and you need to download the WorldPay app to your phone.
After that you simply connect via bluetooth whenever you need to sell (There is a standby mode to save the terminal battery) and type the amount charged into the app on your phone.
Hand the terminal to the customer to allow them to insert the card and chip and pin number.
When the payment is accepted you can text a receipt to the customers phone or send them an email automatically. If they don't want to divulge their details you can still write a receipt on a supplied printed pad.
You can also log into a web page and do "Customer Not Present" sales over the phone for mail orders (complete with saddress verification if required).
There is no merchant account required although the web site is a little ambiguous on this.
Payments are made daily to your bank and they appear in your account in a couple of working days.
Unlike PayPal and Google they actually pay the gross amount and then debit your account for all the transactions made in the period.
No charges except the standard commission and even that is a bit cheaper than Paypal.
The only thing you need is a phone signal to allow it to connect so unless you are in a very remote location should not be a problem.
I studied all the IZettle/Square type gadgets before I saw this and am very pleased I chose this one.paulofessex wrote: »Can l ask, does the Mobile World Pay come with a merchant account? Couldn't find much reference to it within the Q&A's.
You just supply your bank details and sign a direct debit mandate.
The funds are paid (gross amount) directly to your account and the fees (3.3% credit cards or 65p flat debit cards) are taken via the direct debit.
The machine is currently free while they build a customer base and there is no monthly rental charge or merchant fee.0 -
thanks chalkie...
so Basically I could join, order one... trying doing a 'trial run' payment with hubby's card:D and if i cant get on with it, that's it no other costs than the % or 65p for the transaction
do you find people ok when you are using your mobile phone to add the amount etc?Work to live= not live to work0 -
Early days yet but they seem fine so far and I think people will get ever more used to it as it grows in popularity. Certainly not as scary to some as things like IZettle where they have to sign their name with their finger on your 'phone screen. Not to mention the awful procedure they have to go through for Visa on IZettle. This really is just like shopping anywhere else.
I think there is a test mode you can practice on without racking up bills. TBH I never used it as I needed to get on and make a sale!
Anyway, there is nothing you will find too complicated to use I am sure.
There is no cost for not using it, the only liimts are £5000 per transaction (I wish) and £25000 per year.

thanks again chalkie,
really do appreciate your feedback and your views on it..
one last question:D when your customer gets their statements, does your business name show up on their statement or the name on the account the money went into?Work to live= not live to work0
