T Mobile trouble... please help.

Options
I have a galaxy s3 on t mobile. On a 2 year contract. I have had it for around 6 months and used it for around 3 months at my new address. Yesterday i I tried to make a call and it said I was not registered on any network. Although Signal bars are very high. I cant call or text and I cant receive calls and texts. Everything else is working on my wifi, facebook etc.

I phoned them yesterday and told them and they said its because of where I live, the signal is not great. I told them I had been using it for months without an issue. She then said it looks like a problem in my area as a whole at the moment but it would probably get fixed by wednesday.

Other people dont seem to have this problem though.

She said there is nothing she can do and have to wait for it to be fixed. I know that I will be calling back wednesday and I will be in the same situation, I just dont want to wait until then.

I have tried all sorts of things to fix it myself. Has anyone got any ideas? I have contacted them through facebook and twitter since and I have just been directed to the complaints department.....I dont want to make a complaint I just want my phone to work!! I need it for work purposes aswell and worried I am missing important calls and texts! Help!!! Thanks, sorry for long post.

try your chip in another phone
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Can you travel about into a different area to see if you get a signal ....if you can't get a signal anywhere it may be the sim has gone down or the phone.
If you are able to get a signal elsewhere you will be stuck untill it's restored in your area
It's not just about the money

It is one of 3 things - usually and you need to eliminate each one.

    1. The sim. Try it in your house in any other handset that accepts T-Mobile and, of course, the sim.

    2. The handset. As above, but try another sim in your handset.

    3. The location. Use your handset & your sim in other locations - in a town for example.

That will narrow down the problem and allow you to make an informed case to T-mobile.

Also, is your sim set up to enable you to use Orange, their partner company? If not, ask them to update your sim with a over-the-air update and try again.
  • Thanks for the replies so far. My phone is still not working. I drove to another town today and it worked fine so i know that it is not an issue with my phone. I have rang them and they said there was no problems in my area!!! But there must be. She reset my phone and it still didnt work, cant find t mobile operator only o2 and vodafone. She tried to call me and it went straight through to voicemail. I dont know what else to do. Doesnt anyone have any ideas. I am keen to get it working again as i still have a year and a half left on the contract and i am still paying for this service. Help.x
  • :(I phoned back and told them that it worked in my local town and they told me it doesnt matter and that there is no issue with the signal/service whatsover in my area. They told me I would have to go to my local t mobile shop 25 miles away and test my sim in another phone.

I am so angry! wont be able to go until the weekend. All the while, I am paying.

That idea seems a waste of time if we know the sim and phone works in another area.

Did you get a name of the person you spoke to who said that so you can chase it up or verify the problem ?

Try turning your 3G off and use 2G. You may have a "sleeping cell" issue in 3G....
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

T-Mobile and Orange sites are several years out of date on that site so don't bother....
