Took a 10 year fix at 5.5% in October 2008.
Been fully offset for about 2 years now, so we're not paying a penny in interest. :beer:Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
I can remember when we bought our house in the late 80s interest rates being 15% so anything around 5% still looks attractive to me .0

Looks life I'm in the lead at the moment - base + 0.19% so 0.69%! Interest only!!
As "Let us see" says: "What a smug, boring and pointless post" - But boy do I feel smug!

Santander BoE rate +0.49, so currently 0.99%. Offset, and lifetime tracker.
At one point I was talking to a financial advisor who indicated he could do something about my mortgage and probably get me a better rate - once I told him what it was, he went very quiet!
But, when we took this out in 2007, we really thought we would put all our savings into the offset (then paying around the 5-6% mark, I forget exactly) and that we'd never have savings accounts again. Now I'm chasing rates with the best of them! So there is a downside - honest0 -
Took out a 5 year fixed with Santander in November at 5.49%. Today the same mortgage is 4.99% with no booking fee. Would have saved me £42 a month had I waited another couple of months :mad:0

currently on 4.74% which will drop to 4.49% in October but seeing as i will be 100% offset by 1st Feb i won't be paying any interest at all and i am happy with that yay0 -

IIRC back in around 2003 or 2004, there were base rate trackers with a negative premium. So, BoE - 0.5%, may have resulted in them paying nothing, no interest at all.
Although many had "collars" limiting the rate falls to a minimum of 3%, or similar.I am a mortgage broker.
