Unsafe Driving by Tesco Employee

Can anyone suggest the best course of action here?

Yesterday evening I was walking my dog near my home and it was still fairly icy with snow on the ground. There was a car on the road ahead of me coming towards me down the hill, and it appeared to be coming very fast. As it came towards me, the driver (who was in Tesco uniform) appeared to lose control and mounted the pavement, narrowly missing me and my dog.

The driver stopped, got out and asked if I was ok, which was appreciated, but I told him he should not have been driving like that and needed to be more careful. He said he was in a hurry as he had finished work late.

I called Tesco customer services to complain about the way one of their staff had been driving, but they claimed there was nothing they can do. Is there any way of pushing them to deal with this properly?

Was he in a Tesco vehicle? If not, then as he is not in work there is probably little that Tesco can or should do about it

Unless he was driving the vehicle in the course of his employment (as opposed to travelling to or from) then Tesco might be interested. As it is, he wasn't. Quite rightly, IMO, they won't be interested.

  • He said he was travelling home from work, it was in a Ford Mondeo. He was in Tesco uniform though, so as far as I'm concerned he is representing them. I feel they have a right to know the sort of people they are employing and should also do the right thing and send me some vouchers!

What planet do you live on? Why don't you ask to vet all employees of your local Tesco?

They employ workers who will not leave until the job finishes. They will be happy to know that.

Wow I really have heard it all now

So if I'm wearing my company branded polo shirt & bump into you because I'm walking & texting/not paying attention/wondering what I'm going to have for tea/etc etc...you think my company would owe you something???

How ridiculous. They were in a rush, made a stupid error driving, but apologised. Forget it & stop trying to get money/vouchers for nothing!
Wondering how to have a life & not rack up more debts...

Of course he wasn't representing them.

But you have shown your true colours now.
