The price difference between H and V is usually pretty small, maybe a quid or two, and sometimes V is cheaper anyway. If the difference is larger is probably more to do with the age of the stock and the exchange rate when they were bought.

Try to have a car which uses 195 65 15, as these cost about £70 for good brands

Only if the tyre broke up and caused an accident. The investigators would see the tyres were not upto the cars limit and possibly use than as an excuse.

So what is the cars top speed?

The cars top speed in the UK is 70mph.

vehicles last longer if treated well ,I ran my diesil transit into the ground ,280000 miles ,4 tyres, 1 propshaft,4 injectors [ really not needed] disc pads on front. suspension collapsed due to rust after 16 years, gave it cheap oil change every 5000miles. bought new for just over £8600.

Cool, let's all invalidate our insurance and go for an N rating. And then drive like drones.

In normal use no. Pretty much all ratings on UK tyres are sufficient enough to see you with an automatic ban if you exceeded them so from a safety point of view you're good to go unless you do track days ;)

HOWEVER some insurance companies are very fussy and would use an insufficiently rated tyre as an excuse to get out of paying out in the event of a claim.
This answer is rather misleading. Speed is only one factor in the tyre's letter rating. Other factors are the weight, load, force, acceleration, and braking capacity of the tyre.

If you fit any 'speed' rating (and speed is very misleading here as it includes many other factors as I listed) below the manufacturers standard fitment then your insurance is technically invalid and probably practically invalid too if they find out after an accident.

I would not, under any circumstances fit a tyre of lower spec than that recommended by the manufacturer.

Surely an 07 Focus is only going to need 205/55/16 tyres?

These are dirt-cheap -- £38 for budget nasties (which, OK you wouldn't use), £50 for decent budget (Toyo, Falken) and £60-65 for good tyres.

Add a fiver a corner for fitting and I really don't understand where this £500 bill comes from. Should be getting (lots of) change from £300, and potentially change from £250.

07 Focus :question: I never said i had a 07 Focus with those Tyre specs

    I said i had a MK1 Focus with 195/60/r15 Tyres specs

I have no idea why the garage quoted me £500 for Pirelli's

and i agree the prices you quoted is what i expected to be paying for decent mid-range tyres

called Crapfit over lunch and spoke to a guy and inquired how much the Goodyear efficient grips were. while also looking on thier website.

    Website quoted £70
    KF centre quoted £91.75

£21.75 in there pockets nutters, the guy did ask when i said all i wanted was quotes first that he would match any price i find. he should of began to match his companys price first
