We have a number of deep potholes in our area (up to 10" deep by 2 feet wide)
I have reported a number on line and they have still not been even marked on the road in over 2 months !!
Is there a standard time that they should be filled in ?

Nope, I have often reported potholes both via council direct and fixmystreet.com and varies from within a few days to never.

Presumably any claim you might make for damage caused by them in the future would fail as you are aware of them?
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !
  • The Highway Authority should acknowledge your report and give you a report reference number. If they have not bounce them

The response varies drastically between different local authorities.
The road surfaces are breaking up quite severely around where I live as well, and I don't suppose the snow and ice recently has helped matters. :)

    usually 2 days for me.

Once you have reported it they legally know about it and must fix it, if you damage you car in a hole they know about and did not fix you can claim it.

    Thats what I assumed !!
The hole is getting deeper by the day and being in the middle of a quiet lane by a speed bump - with cars parked on each side - you cannot avoid hitting it - it WILL cause punctures and damaged wheels !!
It could cost the council heavily - if people are aware of their rights .....

keep reporting it every two days, when i report holes it states, has this been reported before?, i assume when you click yes it gets priority.

If you keep reporting it every two days you will eventually annoy someone in the council enough that they will get if fixed, if you are concered about you name and that just put a fake name and address in.

They will think that you are a troublemaker and are liable to "send the boys round" or take a contract out on you .....
