  • There. I've moved the current account overdraft to the mortgage overdraft.
The overall debt amount is still the same but it feels nice to not have a minus sign on one account at least!

Now just to make sure we don't start dipping into the current account overdraft again. I've cut it really fine with the amount I transferred so will really have to watch this before DH gets payed on the 15th.

Just need to concentrate on paying it all off now. :p

  • Quite an expensive weekend all in all. Had to buy an outfit for a wedding and also went to the dreaded Ikea. I should be able to manage the budget to take these things into account so it shouldn't affect the debt repayment significantly.

Husband is off work this week, so the petrol bill should be a bit less. I'm a bit worried he'll get bored and go shopping though. He has a habit of going to Sainsbury's and buying random premium food items.

Sold a couple more items on ebay for a few pounds. No time to list any more items this weekend, but hopefully I'll have time during the week as I've found several more things that may sell for a few pounds each.

  • Wow! I haven't posted on here for absolutely ages.

The debt is down to about 18,400. I'll update my signature in a minute.

We've just been plodding along really. I've been selling on ebay and have got rid of loads of the children's old clothes. I got a small bonus from work in April which was a nice surprise and helped a lot towards the holiday in May. My husband has changed work locations and this has resulted in a bit more income.

So overall, we're doing OK. Still would like to get out of all this debt more quickly though!

  • On the flip side, we need to get our central heating power flushed so we need to find 800.00 from somewhere. We've been putting it off since last winter and it really needs doing.
Also my parents keep asking when we're going to get out patio and garden sorted out now that the building work is done (and has been done for nearly a year now :embarasse ) I don't really want to tell them that we are 18K adrift of having the 4K needed to do it. We should be able to afford it next summer, guess I'll just change the subject next time they ask!

  • OK, so breakdown of current debt as of June 13:

    Current account: 0!
    Husbands account: -500
    Mortgage overdraft: -8239.77
    Credit card: -4533.10
    Kitchen loan: -5133.76

    Total: -18406.63

Plan for July is to get the mortgage overdraft below the 8K mark. Interest will be about 35 this month so I need to pay at least 280 in to make sure this happens.

I should be able to do this but will have to do some ebaying to get there.

  • OK, so I've been payed and have moved some money around. I've put 200 into the mortgage overdraft, and also transfered 20 in from Paypal. I'm now really, really close to getting it under 8K. :T

I've been chipping away at my credit card debt at 115 per month, as this just covered the minimum payment. Now the minimum payment is 99 per month, so I've reduced my standing order to 100 each month.

With the 15 left from that I've set up a standing order to my savings account. :j Its only a token amount as I know its not worth having much in there with debts costing more, but I want to start getting in the habit of saving. I'll most likely put it towards Christmas, or the car MOT if its expensive this year.

Now just off to amend my spreadsheet! :p

  • Husband has been payed, and did well commission-wise this month.
    :j
    I've payed off another 100 from the mortgage overdraft so now its under 8K :j :j :j :j :j

Also moved 300 over to husband's overdraft. I'll need him to tell me the exact figure on that account later.

Still have a buffer of 270 above the budget for the next two weeks until I get payed so we may be able to pay off a little bit more at the end of the month.

Feeling very positive about all this debt today! :p

  • Well husband's overdraft was a little more than I thought. To be fair, he hasn't been spending on it, his car insurance came out of that account and a few other essential bits and bobs.

We decided to switch the overdraft from his account over to the joint account. I'm better at remembering to sort things out and check balances than he is, so it makes sense to have the overdraft in an account that I have direct access to.

I'm hoping if we're careful we can limit this to -300 by the end of the month. Then by mid-August, when husband is payed again, it should be gone. Its going to be tight though; 2.5 weeks until August and my next payday.

  • Oops! Went to the supermarket after work to pick up a couple of things I'd forgotten in the weekly shop yesterday. Spent 50!!!

Oh well. Managed to get it down to 30 using points, and it did include my nephew's birthday present so not all pointless rubbish.

  • Grrr! Had to go to the shops again. Husband burnt a vital part of dinner to had to replace it. Managed to go just at the right time for the discounts though and got some half price salmon and bread.
Will be into the overdraft soon. Hopefully will be able to keep this down as much as possible though.
