  • Really? Does vinegar really work? I might just try that tomorrow.

I've really got to pull out the stops now. We're really cutting it fine if we want to get the debt under 20K this month. We might still just about do it if we're really careful. I've got quite a lot in the freezer so we'll eat that this week and cut the shopping spend. I'll have to have a think about what else we can cut down on for the rest of the month.

  • Just got a bank statement for the joint account through the post. Feels great already knowing what it is going to say. No more of that 'Oh God! How much have we spent this month??' feeling as I opened the envelope.

Going to do some baking today, and also start the ebay selling.

  • Hi again, Just popped on to see how you are doing and you seem to be pretty positive! It's a good feeling isn't it once you have made the decision to sort everything out and like you say, know what your statement is going to say before opening it.
I have found it a lot easier than I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong I do have my down days and odd struggles but I'm not as obsessed / upset about the debt any more and it feels good to be finally clearing it.
Good luck with your ebay selling. Hope you raise lots of money

  • Hi Getmeoutofdebt. We're doing OK, thanks. I guess we're kind of settling into it now and, like you say, not obsessing over it so much anymore. I'm still trying to find lots of little ways to cut down on our spending and have spent a bit of time on the Old Style Board. This week I'm trying baking flapjacks to replace expensive cereal bars.

Also, I've put my first three items on ebay. Two of them have watchers already and they don't end until next Saturday so hopefully they will sell. I'm going to add another couple of items today. Hopefully I will be able to add more entries to my 'Money Earned' column on my spreadsheet this time next week!

  • Just added four more items to ebay so that's 7 altogether now. I think that's enough for now. I'll see how they go and hopefully will add more next week.

  • Yay! Three of my ebay listings have bids. Only at the minimum so far but most of them have a few watchers and still 2-3 days to go so I'm optimistic that I'll have made a few pounds this weekend. I'll list a few more things this weekend.

Not a lot else to report other than the carpark card reader at work has broken so we have free parking at work this week. That's 12.50 saved!!! :j

Just off over to the Old Style board to get some ideas for meals next week and more places to save money.

  • Made a few pounds with my first ebay listings which ended today. I'm trying to list three more things but ebay keeps logging me out

Off to do the weekly shop in a minute. Got a menu plan for the week all sorted and will look out for any bargains that are around.

  • Yay! New mortgage deal has come through so now paying 45 less per month in interest for that. That will free up a little more money towards paying off the debt.

It also means that tonight I can go online and transfer our current account overdraft over to our mortgage overdraft, so going from 14.9% interest down to 4.9% (or is it 5.9? I can't remember - but its a lot less I know that much!)

This all should mean that we're paying off a little more per month and a lot less is going on interest.

Also, I've added up extra money made this month and its 70 :j
I'm really rather pleased about that. I've only spent the cash I got for old jewellery so far. The rest is a Swagbucks Amazon voucher and in Paypal. I'm keeping these towards holiday things and present buying.

I did use my Nectar points today though, on a mother's day present for my Mum and Easter eggs for the kids.

  • Ah.. Its 4.5%. This diary is so useful as a record as my paperwork filing system is really non-existant.
