Joke insurance renewal

I tend to do the meerkat. Then do all the ones the meerkats tell you "refused to quote" which basically means they don't do comparison sites but the meerkats don't tell you that.
Then see which of the top group are on topcashback. Compare the offers there. Work out, which one is cheapest overall with/without cashback. Clear cookies and do the deal.
I never ask them to match it. I just tell them not to try ripping me off next time. What's the point in sending me a letter propudly declaring they have got me the cheapest possible renewal deal when they can drop it when you call them?
Lies and it needs to stop. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Hastings have actually lowered my insurance for the last 2 years. Could have moved to someone else for £15 less but couldn't be bothered with the hassle. Plus I like the £0 excess I'm allowed - not many comps do that.0

I went and sold the Focus & bought an Octavia Diesel. The cheaper company re-quoted & was £30 more than my current insurer was for their quote.
Funny that. Swap to a slower car & the premium goes up.
It's not only the performance of the car in question that determines the insurance premium.
Replacement parts for the Skoda may be far more expensive than those for a Focus and the Skoda and the parts may be harder to obtain, so in the event of an accident, the Skoda might cost more to repair.
If there are a lot of people driving high mileages in Octavia's, the amount of accidents/claims may also be relatively higher than for Focus's hense they will be classed as higher risk.0 -
alphabet_soup wrote: »I paid around £600 for my insurance with Admiral last year (my first year driving). Last week I had an email with a renewal quote of £850. I've had no claims and I drive the same car.
Two days later, I received an email from moneysupermarket listing my top three quotes (they obviously have my details saved from last year), and third on the list is Admiral, with a quote of £350. The mind boggles.
Further to my earlier post, after this ridiculous quote from my current provider, I naturally went elsewhere. Once all my policy documents came through, my new insurer asked for proof of no claims, so I logged onto my Admiral account... and the cheeky !!!!!!s have automatically renewed my policy! I had to ring them up to cancel!0 -
^^ That wasn't a particularly rude word that's been blanked out by the way - 'beggars' with a 'u' and an 'e'!

admiral quoted me over £900 for a renewal and when i used a compare site they came out the cheapest at just over £700. so i phoned them up to say i want to say with them but can they do any better than £900 as i was quoted just over £700 and i was told a straight out no.
in the end i did it online with them and save £200
though will be avoiding them this year as they decided that my car had tinted windows, alloy wheel and a boy racer style exhaust and charged me £75. ive sent 6 letters and 18 photos proving i dont have any other those and they refuse to refund me the money as they claim it a admin fee0 -
I had a renewal quote a few years ago...
went from £900 to £101,000 :O0 -
As stroma & others have said: don't EVER be loyal to ANY company let alone a car insurance co., they won't be loyal to you!
I change companies every year for car insurance, sometimes I go back to the same company I left every other year: they all have 'new' customer discounts and the loyal customer gets shafted to pay for the new discounts to others.
I only ever stay with the motorcycle insurance as it's specialist classic agreed value, however there's a limit as to how much I'd tolerate the premium changing even there as there's more than one of those too!
I've gone from 47 to 48 this year and the premiums offered have started to rise after years of consistently creeping down, I don't like that!Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
If you don't like my opinion feel free to respond with your own.0 -
