Joke insurance renewal

Just had my insurance renewal through from Admiral. £477, I only paid £230 last year!
Another year of claim free driving and a 102% increase. It's a good job that I can-
a)-take a joke.
b)-tell them where to go.
c)-use the internet to shop around and find a new deal for £197.
I've been with them for five years and admittingly I do have to go through this process of becoming a new customer every year to get their best price which no other company can beat but this year they can't even touch the sides.
I might even get myself a free Meercat toy this year!

Surprised you had four or five years with them to be honest.
I have generally found them to be less than cheap with a pretty crappy service.
Depends on your postcode or the availability of rocking horse poo or some such I suppose.0 -
Even with the 107% increase proposed, are you sure this isn't just Admiral "shuffling the pack" and your moving to yet another of their bargain basement brands?0

Insurance companies really do not reward loyalty, and then sound so surprised when you phone them to say that you do not wish to renew the policy.0

Never stay loyal to insurance companies, last year I was with m&s and they increased prices so went onto confused and saved about £200 and just got a cheque for £25 this morning as well as 2000 nectar points. All in all I'm happy paying under £200 for this year. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

Maybe it's Admiral's way of saying that they don't want you as a customer any more. It's better than them saying that they refuse to insure you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I paid around £600 for my insurance with Admiral last year (my first year driving). Last week I had an email with a renewal quote of £850. I've had no claims and I drive the same car.
Two days later, I received an email from moneysupermarket listing my top three quotes (they obviously have my details saved from last year), and third on the list is Admiral, with a quote of £350. The mind boggles.0 -

No, I think more simply it's just Admiral pushing their luck and hoping people won't notice before the auto-renewal goes through and they're stuck with it (or have to pay a hefty cancellation charge). My renewals with Admiral are always higher each year until I phone them and get them down to cheaper than the previous year.

Only 102%!
My father had insurance with Sainsbury's and it was about £250 in first year - renewal was quoted at around £1200!0 -
Just renewed with Admiral multicar, they sent the renewal, i checked online and could save just under £100, even more with the scabby never heard of companies but i don't count them, selected the quotes from decent companies, called Admiral and they matched so we renewed.
If you speak to the companies they will often sort things out, but i too am baffled why almost all of them seem to want rid of good customers.0 -
When I had my Focus last year, my insurance was due at the end of the month so I started looking and found a quote that was £27 cheaper than my current insurer. However, I went and sold the Focus & bought an Octavia Diesel. The cheaper company re-quoted & was £30 more than my current insurer was for their quote.
Funny that. Swap to a slower car & the premium goes up.Never Knowingly Understood.
