As a seller I'm interested in why you want the seller to have a COP?
Various reasons.
1) My PO told me you should always ask for one.
2) Also I have bought from a few sellers lately who wont accept PayPal and it has to be by cheque/postal order, so less comeback.
3) As already said above, many sellers say they wont be held responsible for lost items.
One thing I bought did go missing and the seller wouldn't do anything but she did send me the COP so I got refunded from the PO even although it was supposed to be the seller who sorted it out with them. If she'd not got got a COP and wouldn't do anything then I'd be stuck (especially if PayPal weren't involved so no chargeback etc). You can't physically force someone to refund you and sometimes it's for such a small amount that it's not worth epending a whole lot of energy fighting your corner with eBay or the seller etc to get one..
4) It just makes me feel better.

Zebidee, the PO is right people do need a COP...but it is the seller that needs it not the buyer.
As you've already come across sellers who won't take paypal and refuse their responsibility when a parcel gets lost I'm surprised you still use non paypal payment methods. Pay by paypal backed by a credit card (paypal aren't 100% sure of getting your money back so have a fall back position) and then don't worry about sellers any more, apart from taking normal precautions of course. While there are still some sellers who give the rest of us a bad name I really woul dnever ever pay by anything other than paypal, just in case! Set your default search to sellers who accept paypal, then you won't even be tempted by sellers who only take cheques as you'll never see their auctions.
I really can't stress enough that asking for a COP does not protect the buyer in any way at all, if the seller isn't going to bother refunding then why would they bother helping you to get a refund?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I bought an item my youngest was absolutely desperate for the other night. Very rare hard to get hold of item, only 3 on eBay - this was better then the others and they don't come up often. Seller would not accept PayPal so I had no choice.
I do normally try to pay by PayPal wherever I can though.0 -
I have had that question but the sale has gone through fine --- just some people a little anxios about things I guess0

:kisses3: ooohhh thanks.....
i have allways got cop's anyway ..plus i allways keep the price reciepts ..if i am posting multiple items i number the side of the cop.. to coorespond with the no on the parcel... so when i get the till recipt for the diff postage i know which one matches with parcel if it ever gets lost by r.m.
i have quite high feedback.. with only one neg... and one neutral.... which was due to the fact the buyers mis-read the discription which even though my discriptions have been perfectly fine in the passed and no confusion.....i do double check to make sure there nothing can be interprited in another way......
so its not as though i am a fairly new...to ebay.. with low feedback, and yes she did pay by paypal....
its only been 2 items that i had to chase up with royal mail... for being lost.... and i refunded after the 14 days... and i done the recovering... as i took out the 'contract' for royal mail to deliver that item.. even though the buyer paid me the price of delivery...
the person confirmed their address last night.. so eill be posted out today.....
as for peeps not getting cop's for less than £10... imo i think thats a bit silly ....as i get one even if its for 99p
plus.. another way of looking at it.. they are recepits for mr taxman......Work to live= not live to work0
