Working and claiming DLA?

What benefits are they claiming? Most benefits are specific to the person, especially if they are disability ones, so it sounds more plausible that they are having their benefits paid into your account.

However if they are doing this because they have high savings, then they are committing fraud.

Hi, I'm completely new here. I have a lot of things I'm trying to sort out in my life right now. I thought I'd try to start here.

I'm working, but I'm in the process of claiming DLA. Also, my parents are claiming benefits and a job in my name. Not 100% sure what benefits they are. I think it's something disability related. Am I doing wrong in trying to claim DLA for myself?

I'm in somewhat bad debt, well bad to me because I have NO money.

    Thanks for reading

Sorry hun but as an adult you are responsible for committing fraud here. Everything is in your name, despite the fact for some reason your parents take all the money.

If I were you I would put an end to it immediately. Stop you parents having access to that account straight away.

Then find out what is going into the account and if its wages your parents earn then they will need to put it into their own account. Its just tough if your parents have too much money in savings, thats not your problem.

Your problem is that you, not them, are committing fraud and you would be the one to face possible prosecution if it came to light.

Tell you parents to sort themselves out and stop bullying you into doing what they want.

As to your claiming benefits, this would depend on what is wrong with you and is an entirely different matter.

    Good luck

Ok, first off I'm not wanting to claim DLA to help get my out of debt. I'm wanting to claim because I'm ENTITLED to it. Tyvm.

My dad is claiming as a carer for my mum for over 35 a week and a job somewhere else that is £50 p/w, but they have too much money is savings so they asked if it could be in my name and for my to open a bank account for them. Stupid, I know.
The benefit money is around £1,300 per month after tax. I can't tell you what the reference name is because I closed one of my bank accounts down because I realised my parents can fully access it. So I switched banks.
    I'm 27 years old.
I work, but I only earn around £200 per month.

Is it only me that thinks that this poster sounds very much like an old friend?

The whole scenario just doesn't add up to me.

I'm not getting involved in this one.

What care and mobility needs do you have? Most adults with MH problems do not require care from another person.

This is a bit judgmental I work with numerous adults with mental ill health who reasonably require care and as such are awarded MRC or HRC. DLA does not require any care to be actually given merely that it is reasonably required.

OP, you need to sort this out because you will be equally as responsible as your parents if this benefit fraud is discovered by the authorities.
  • Thank you everyone that replied.

I am planning on telling them it needs sorting out at the end of the week. I need to pluck up the courage first. It's a scary thing to me.

I have another question, thought I might as well ask it in this post.

If I work around 10 hours a week does anyone know what benefits I could claim along with DLA if I am approved?

It sounds as if CondemmedElf's mother is on DLA, the father thinks he earns too much to get CA so has put the claim in the OP's name?

Condemedelf, you should try to take control ofthis before you get into trouble. It sounds like your parents are receiving £1300 pm in benefits plus another £200 pm in wages from a job, plus they have quite a lot of savings in the bank and yet you are trying to exist on only £200 pm as well as contending with health problems. Doesn't sound fair. Plus you are risking being prosecuted for benefit fraud because the DWP will not belive that you are not complicite in this fraud.
