Giff Gaff sims

Does anyone know if , when you buy a PAYG data bundle from, say, giff gaff, do you have to use it all up by a certain date ( like within a month) and if you dont use it, do you lose it and then have to buy another bundle the next month ?

Im a small usage customer and trying to decide wether to get a tablet with just WIfi , or 3G aswell

Thanks

    Yes, yes and yes.

Depending on how low your usage would be then Samba or Ovivo are possible alternatives.

Yes, if you do not use the bundle it will NOT roll over to the next month, also as you are using a tablet and a giff gaff sim, you need to buy an internet bundle from them, rather than a call/ text/ free internet one off of them, due to the fact they have tethering detection.. Tablet internet usage is deemed at tethering in the eyes of giff gaff, so you need to buy a tethering bundle, or be at risk of having your sim card banned by them.

Prices of their internet only "data packages" are as follows:

    £5 for 500mb
    £7.50 for 750mb
    £12.50 for 3gb

    I hope this helps :D

The £10 'normal' goodybag - 250 minutes / unlimited texts / 1GB data - now allows tethering. None of the other goodybags do.

But you don't have to buy a goodybag, you can just top up, which, if you are a very light data user and are using wifi at home may be enough.

You can chop and change, if you buy a goodybag one month you don't have to stick with that the following month, you can go to normal PAYG rate which 20p per day up to 20mb. Depends really how light a user you are.

how exctly do they detect tethering? can i fly under the rader if i use something like 2gb data a month?

is the detection based on volume of data, or is it more sinister than than that and they monitor all your web pages for their headers and detect your user agent etc.

forget it.. To much hassle I dont need to use more than 1GB of data so I'll just stick with giffgaff 1GB which has tethering enabled.

I read forums from USA where AT&T detects tethering, seems like they have a very sophisitcated anti-tether technology which looks for almost all clues.

Do you know if there's a first trike warning policy or will they ban me indefinately? I would at least like to get the chance to transfer my number to another network if they ban me.
