Bethere account problems

I have this week changed my ISP from Bethere to Plusnet.
The one month notice I gave to Be is meant to end 14th Feb with a final payment of £18.99 normal monthly payment was £20.30.
They informed me that that the £18.99 would be collected by Direct Debit on 8th Feb. However on the 23rd Jan they closed my account and cancelled my Direct Debit and they want me to pay the £18.99 my phone using my debit card which I do not want to do, so they said I can send a cheque by post. My question is can they insist that I pay as they have closed my account?

Do you actually owe them £18.99? If the answer is yes, you are morally and perhaps legally obliged to pay them. There's no wiggle room in this.0

It's the way BE's account systems work. (Not good, but hey ho). Assuming you gave your 30 days cancellation notice (to avoid an express cancellation charge) then you contractually owe them up to the end period of that notice, regardless of when the connection itself moved to Plusnet.
Yes it is annoying that they closed the DD. But on the bright side - they now can't ping your account in error in the future.
Just ring them up (it's a freephone number) and pay by card. Or send a cheque (but ring them to say you've done this, and maybe also tell them the cheque number, and also include your account details on the back of the cheque).0 -
or the can issue a default , if you owe send a chequeDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
