Afternoon all -having a day off work today (official holiday, I'm not skivving!) and I must admit I'm still in my pjs :D

Yesterday wasn't a NSD - picked up a couple of essentials in town at lunch (brown sauce for OH and a tin of sweetcorn - wild!) had eyebrows done (perhaps a little pampering extravagance but £5 is allowable me thinks) and bought OH DM a mother's day card, plus our prev elderly neighbour an easter card (don't notmally do those but thought it would be nice for her to receive). Also picked up a few 'essentials' in L1dl when I went past, they had 100% free on their apples and lemons (though I don't know why I keep getting the lemons when they are on a deal like that as I struggle to use them all :o) also picked up a few other bits to tide us over until the next big shop (incl some prawns for £1.39 - not tiger prawns but big ones, not like the tiny little basics ones) as I had a sudden urge for them (which is odd cos it's something I REALLY have to fancy). Forgot eggs so stopped there on the way home, two boxes of free range 99p each, and errr...also came out with peanut butter ('needed' for a specific recipie)and errr, pine nuts. don't quite know what was the matter with me last night with random items :rotfl:

Also got two packs of cuppa soups, thought they were a good deal at 59p each, but have a feeling some of the other stores have better offers - annoyed with myself on that one

anyhoo, hopefully today will be a NSD and could be target me :A keep you posted later x

  • Fiddlesticks!!!! Could've been a NSD today! Was meeting mum for lunch so knew I'd be spending anyway, so bought a cappuccino on my way in to work. Met mum for lunch and she paid!! :p:o lol!

Ah well. Gotta do big shop after work anyway, although don't count that as a spend anyway as it's within budget and it's a necessary spend.

    *sigh*

    On to the next NSD!!!

Have a fab weekend everyone :D

Yesterday was a definate spendy day - a few lovely items in new l00k and a curry out with friends. Did quite well really as i had a clothes voucher and the curry house had a byob policy so spent a total of £19.47. Its ruined my "in-a-row" run though! Oh well.

Today was a NSD so i'm currently at 17/20.

BINDI~Hope today was way way better for you.

Thanks Beanie, i'm really struggling with this lodger malarkey, she's barely been at work & it seems every time i get in shattered i have to put her pots in the dishwasher & go round shutting doors, while she sits on the sofa with my remote in her hand, the heating on full blast for hours at a time (escaping through all the open doors!) eating my food
Wouldn't be so bad if she hadn't announced she can't pay me any rent till April! I will however be an absolute master at biting my tongue by then, the amount of practise i think i will get!!

Oh well, i offered & she is going through a bad time,so once she gets home from work i shall bite my tongue & have an early night.
I managed to reach my first target of 20 NSDs yesterday :T and have increased my target to 23. Not much of an increase but money seems to be slipping through my fingers like water at the moment and I am struggling to stay in budget :( I hope I can mange another 3. :(

You've done so well for so long Freeby, you're allowed to have a little bit of a spendy time, so don't feel down, you will soon be back on the wagon!

Keri have you thought about quartering & freezing the lemons you won't get round to using? That's what i do when they are a bargain & then you can either pop them into drinks (g&t for me!), a bit like a flavoured ice cube, or use them in cooking - they defrost really quickly when stuffed into the cavity of a roast chook as you put it in the oven!

Been on the phone since i got back from work, but think i have finally tied up all gran's loose ends & off home for more sorting out this weekend, but i'll be back early in the week to catch up with you all, have a great weekend everyone!!

Bdini - make sure you start as you mean to go on - get your lodger to do her own clearing up and make sure she treats your home with respect. If she can't afford to pay rent make sure you come to an agreement with her where she either contributes towards the food/leccy bill or pays her way in some other fashion, such as housework or cooking for you. Remember you are doing her a favour, she is living in your home, not a hotel with full waiter service. If you don't sort this stuff out right from the start it will cause so much stress to both of you and probably ruin your friendship.
