Nice of DH to take you for a meal though.
As kids (we were all very grown up and mature) we had a couple of murder mystery parties for birthdays - everyone got to know their character in advance so could dress up and act accordingly.
Our's were done in the days before the internet but why not host your own Modesty - then you don't need to sit with annoying people who talk - or if they do you can ask them to leave :rotfl:

Not a NSD for me, met family for coffee which resulted in 2hrs in Costa  (I'm amazed how well behaved my niece was as she's not even 2 yet). DM bought us all first round and sarnies, and I paid for second round and cake - very decadent but worth it. Oh, then I bought some towels in BHS(but might reorder online tomorrow and get cashback)

Have a bit of a problem through. Tis my mums birthday next week and I have no idea what to get for her nor more importantly how to pay for it.
Card - you could make one. Find some old photos of your mum, eg, when she was growing up/getting married/with you as a child, scan them onto your computer or photograph them, print them out, and stick them onto a spare bit of card, and write a lovely message. (I did that for my nephew's 18th this weekend, found some cute baby pics, and - cool teenager though he is - he loved it:))
Present - (a) take her back to the house where she was born, if it's nearby, then a picnic (depending on weather!) and ask her about her early memories; (b) draw up a simple family tree (the more hand-drawn the better) of immediate family and get them to each write a little message on it about what she means to them; (c) just tell her that you love her, and what she means to you:kisses3: ... though I'm sure you do that already'It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

Hope you are well and congrats on 7 NSD. :T
Good, I'm glad you're OK now ETO and yay to the countdown, I'm sure it'll go quickly now with the bump becoming more active:D
Thank you I'm fine and thank you:D I'm pleased with myself this month, think I'm finally making some progress....
Freeby, thanks for the fabby update xx:A
Cheryl :mad: to the council tax, what a farce. You're right though, it's going to cause a lot of stress to a lot of elderly people, it's really not on :mad:The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

Candlewick wrote: »I spoke to my landlord who talked me through how to clear the filter over the phone as he felt that was causing the problem. It was creepy because water was coming out of it as I was unscrewing it but it is now working and I have a shiny kitchen floor to boot
The cr*p that came out of it was yuck. I am having an OCD moment and rewashing my quilt cover because the thought of all that muck and gunge anywhere near my washing makes me feel quite ill.
As I no longer have to worry about washing costs (to be fair I think I would have taken two loads to mums tomorrow because I am feeling lazy and scrooge-likenot two of my traits I like admitting to
) I am declaring NSD 6 and 4 in-a-row.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

Good news on the washing machine Candlewick.. yes, the filter does need cleaning out occasionally and it's not a nice job:eek::eek:
YAY to the NSDs and 4 in a row, that's brilliant:j:j:wave:
Unfortunately yesterday was definitely not a NSD due to a trip to !kea. We [STRIKE]needed[/STRIKE] wanted a new corner table and got one for the bargain price of £8 so not too bad but petrol costs on top mean it works out more than thatDH did buy my a hotdog though :rotfl:
At least you're honest and say that you wanted the table Jonesyand that was definitely a bargain:T:T
Not an nsd yesterday or today as we went to a Murder Mystery overnight stay at an hotel. Unfortunately we missed all the action and clues due to what DH called a 'Motormouth' at our table. We don't even know who was murdered! Why do people go to these things if they're not going to take part? It's so unfair to others.
To make up for it, DH took me for a meal when we came home today.
Hugs to all who are poorly.
Motormouths are one of my pet hates ModestyB.. why can't they just go and talk themselves into oblivion:mad: Sorry your evening was ruined:( but hope you enjoyed your meal out today, what a lovely DH you have
Hope you're feeling a bit better hun x
beanie - Jelly has given you some great ideas for a card and pressie for your lovely mum. Could you get DS involved to help you out? I'm sure your mum would treasure something you both made for her xxThe time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

PS: marmite - glad you had a good day off today x
PPS: sorrry for all the chatting, I may have had one glass of wine too many:o

Hi everyone
Its been one of those weeks, never really caught up with myself. Been going into work early to get some jobs done, spent more than an hour every night getting home...its only 8 miles!
Some stuff going on in the background with OH's grown up family so generally tired, physically and mentally. Topped off by OH not well again, felt like I was sleeping with a clockwork toy last night...never mind.
So all that aside, not kept up with posts, noticed a few washing machines giving up, councils rounding up  and DD's catching us out. So big hugs to all those in need of comfort, and big :j:j:j for all those making some progress towards the NSD targets.
Well for me, last Sun & Mon were NSD 2 & 3, Tues was a spendy, mainly budgeted for but don't think I can include those choc eclairs AND ice creams in necessary groceries.
And then ta da .. 3 in a row for Wed, Thurs, Fri which were also NSD 4, 5 & 6 so now i'm on NSD 6/15 and target met for 3 in a row
Spendy for Sat, thats my plan now, on weekend day and one weekday, preferably within budget though, hoping for another 3 in a row next week if I can too
Will try to get back to daily updating as it keeps my mind focussed. Have good weekendDebt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.
