Mexico, Cape Verde Islands or Egypt

Looking to get away with my wife. Thinking of Mexico, Cape Verde Islands or Egypt.
Like a nice beach and a bit of nice sight seeing.
Anyone been to all three places that can advise on the best option?

I've been to Sharm El Shiekh and Cancun, would go to Cancun first every time.
Much nicer beaches, higher quality AI and much nicer restaurants and bars downtown without the locals pawing at your missus. Still plenty excursions to do locally or slightly further afield ie Chichen Itza.
From what I hear Cape Verde is pretty restrictive, not sure you would want to venture out your complex at night. I don't think there is much to do outwith your complex anyway.0 -

Thank you. How far is Chichen Itza by road from Cancun. Is it possible in a day? Is Mexico safe to move around and venture out of the complex?0 -
Chicken Pizza can be done in a day trip, get there early though, it can get very busy.
Playa del Carmen may be worth considering.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Definitely Mexico. Playa del Carmen is lovely. I've always felt safe everywhere. Even travelling on the local collectivo's. Obviously being as sensible as you would in this country.0

Always Mexico. Safe, awesome beaches and coast, good quality of hotels and lots to do and see.0

Mexico every time.
Chichen Itza & Tulum are close by. We stayed a week in cancun and a week at the riviera maya. Do the Chichen Itza tour from the riviera maya as its closer if you can.
Capre verde - not much to do there apart from the hotel.
Egypt - never really fancied myself. always hearing bad things about the AI food.Mini me due March 2014

Agree with above. Mexico is better for beaches and sightseeing. Cape verde has very little to see and weather can be cloudy but hot. If you go to Egypt then Sharm etc don't have much to see as they are nowhere near the pyramids etc. I stayed in Cancun for my honeymoon, the sea is beautifully blue & warm and I went on a few trips inc. Chichen Itza.
All 3 countries are relatively poor so when you go off the beaten track you need to take obvious precuations.
I have had great holidays in all 3 but Mexico was my favourite.
Hope you have a great time, wherever you choose.0 -
If your interested in sight seeing forget Cape Verde - there basically is pretty much nothing to see or do apart from lie by the pool0

My vote would also be for Mexico. Beautiful beaches, great hotels, lots to see and very welcoming people.0

Another vote for Mexico. Great value, safe and loads to do and see at a good price,.
For Chichen itza its worth paying a little extra for a private guide to take you. Ours cost £40 more than it would have done by coach and we were 2 hours ahead of the masses... Got to walk round virtually alone...
As we were leaving 15 coaches were arriving with a good 20 already in the car park.... The luxury of a private car and to miss all that was Money well spent....0
