Antivirus question

Hi All
Just moved my Broadband to Plusnet, for years I've been running Avast and Malwarebytes and its done the job ok.
Plusnet are offering "Plusnet Protect by MacAfee" for free, would there be any benefits by switching over?
Thanks in advance

I'm facing the same question as the OP - whether to take up Plusnet Protect Powered by McAfee.

Has anyone got any more insightful comments?

I've used Kaspersky in the past and that absolutely throttled performance when it was scanning/updating so can McAfee be any worse?

McAfee is currently one of the worst antivirus programs available, and i would suggest you keep well clear
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

That's why they focus on bundling it with new laptops or via ISP's, as no one in their right minds buys it independently through a retail outlet.
    Carry on using Avast.

Mcafee is probably paying for the promotion with Plusnet

So non 'money savers' renew the antivirus every year without question

For unlimited tariffs on Plusnet the McAfee product is free, so there'd be no renewal fee after a year. It's £2 a month for their basic package but I'd get it free.

However, I don't think I'll bother now. Anyone using KIS 2013? Seems to be slower than 2012 from what I've read. In the past I'd used KIS 7 but it seems to go by year now.

I know you can get free versions of Avast, AVG, MSE etc but I'd rather get a paid for one.

If you have something that works for you I say stick with it. Tried the Kaspersky one as it was free from my bank but reduced my machine to a crawl so went back to running AVG & Malwarebytes

That's the thing. I haven't had internet for a while and used to have Kaspersky 7 on my old PC. That used to slow everything to a crawl regularly but the reviews I read for KIS 2013 say its got even worse.

What's the fastest working AV, regardless of cost?

There is no such thing as 'fastest', it depends on your system. You can install and run the trial version of KIS 2013 to see how it works if you want.
