Das was ....swish the water round with my hand..when he was going for a bath. Our modern version is ....off for a paddle.
The clothes horse thing is now what we call skinny models as the clothes just hang off them like they did when drying.

We say born in a barn - left the door open
Mum used to say 'Indian giver' - if you took something back you had given someone (from Cowboys and Indians when the indians used to sell them stuff and yhen kill them and take the stuff back)
