for £1,800 I would be shipping it back as significantly not as described and buying from an alternative source (preferably at far less - which shouldn't be too difficult given the spec...)

There is one wiyh a bigger screen and the same spec for £100 less and tbh i only ordered it from there as my mum uses the commission she makes to pay for xmas gifts etc and she gets a decent whack as shes had the account almost 40 years ^^

....you've overpaid for the spec by more than her commission, I can almost 99% guarantee that.

I hope she declares it to HMRC as SDG report rewards to the tax now, and when I was there it was reported 80year old women getting letters from the tax about their "commission"

As for the computer, If theyve followed process on the phone (sent a data issues form) they'll either supply the bits or pick the computer up. Getting someone under the Serco regeim who has been there for more than 5 minutes is getting rarer.

If you get Cardiff contact centre or a homeworker, Just give up.

I know you didn't, the point was, you're still willing to trade with them when they have sold you an underspec'd to price model.

After they have changed the advert and called YOU a liar.

I wouldn't give them another second of my time - put it back in the box and buy from a reputable seller who does not behave in such a way.

    Just to update this...

got a call today saying they had decided that the advert was wrong and was told they had dispatched the speakers and webcam today ( no mention of the external drive ) and so when i got home i looked and noticed they are sending speakers and a webcam BUT the chepeast HP webcam they sell ( not a true vision ) and 2.1logitech speakers rather than the altec ones in the advert

Going to wait and see what they look like when they turn up but not blown away :/

Well it's a start, but I wouldn't accept them, if they are below the standard of what was advertised.

I'm no an expert on Webcams or speakers TBH, but I would most certainly be looking at the difference in the lowest priced speakers Altec do and the price of the true vision webcam, compared to what you are sent.

Sounds like they are sending you, the cheapest, poorest quality speakers/webcam they do. After the amount you spent on the PC, I don't think that is acceptable, because I pretty certain that a PC of that spec, would come with a half decent webcam and speaker set.

I suppose it depends on how much you want to push it and how important these things are to you.

Myself the webcam would be something I wouldn't be bothered too much about, in my experience webcams are pretty poor anyway. But having spent a lot of money on the PC, I would expect the speakers to most definiately be up to scratch.

As for the external drives, well if they are optical drives, then that would suggest an external cd/dvd drive. That would be a pretty crazy thing to be included with a tower PC.

TBH, I would just let that go, unless they really would be useful to you, or ask for a couple of at least 8GB in size usb drives.

This is so bad, normally if someone is going through MSE the company will make an effort, so at least they'll look as if they were trying to put things right, but this is not happening here.
(incidentally I think I had posted here, I'm still subscribed to the thread but no post from me...strange, or maybe not ;))

Just another update guys got the speakers today ( nothing else, checked online and the rest of the missing parts have not been dispatched yet ) and they looked nice so i thought maybe ill just settle for these...plugged them in..don't work...plugged them in my laptop..don't work plugged them in my ipad worked! so gave hewitt packard a call who said "sounds like they are just not compatible..try altec speakers"

you could not make it up :( ill wait until i have cooled down a bit to ring littlewoods and i plan to say if they can't supply what was in the advert ill just send it all back and ill buy the parts and build my own as lets face it would be less hassle
