HELP????? Credit checks - mortgage company dispute

Hi all, after some advice.
i today applied for a decision in principle with my mortgage broker to a building society. The decision was then referred to the underwriters which later came back declined due to 'oustanding adverse credit'. both my broker and i have been torugh all credit reports and there is nothing - not so much as a blip.
So he was just as confused as i am - he then went back to the building society who stated 'it is registered at one of the linked address connected to me' but they wont say which one. Again confused!!!! hes been through the report with a fine tooth comb. this lender uses equifax to do their searches so he suggested i call them up as they will be able to tell me (although there is nothing on my report in front of me)
So i called equifax to explain the situation. They checked also and told me all my payments are always on time and i have no outstanding debt nor adverse credit history. confused.com??????
So my question is where has this building society got this info from and what can i do about it when even the credit reference company say there is nothing on my records and i have the report in front of me to prove it???
HEEEEEEELLLP!!!
thanks

Have you ever been linked to another person with a similar name and/or initials at one of your previous addresses? Are they picking up someone else?I am a mortgage broker. both my mom and sister and me all had the same initials back then except our middle names were different so surely it shouldn't pick up anyone of them??? mines SVD my mom is SAD and my sisters were SND. also that address goes back to 8 years ago???? is this possible that the identities are wrong???Trainee Building Surveyor

Not at all unusual. Lenders use various systems and even internal ones which may be linked to some company you've dealt with in the dim distant past?
Are you showing at 2 address' at one time anywhere?
Have you checked your Experian report?0 -
checked all reports. the only issue i found was that experian have added an extra address on which is next door to my parents - never lived there ever nor do i even know who lives there - this is a error and was only added in the last week when i signed up to equifax - so im getting them to correct that. other than that nope been at my current address nearly 6 years and the previous one 3years - never been shown as living in 2 places at the same time????Trainee Building Surveyor

Has your broker suggested an alternative lender?0
-
yeh my broker said thats plan B - but it means putting down a bigger deposit. which is fine if i have to, but didnt really want to - but then the same thing could happen with another lender... who knows?? even equifax are just as confused as we are... not really sure what to do. My broker said we can appeal if need be, but all of this could take for ever!!!! #stressTrainee Building Surveyor

Why does another lender require a bigger deposit?0 -
because its a 95% deal, its new build and its shared ownership - so that pretty much narrows it down to who i can go with. only 1 lender lending at this ltv deal at the min with a decent rate. if i want to open up more options i will have to go for a 90% ltv deal with an alternative lender.Trainee Building Surveyor
