Agreed. They will almost certainly fit PP meters. Best thing to do is be in when they arrive which will save hassle of gaining entry. Dont worry..they are not the heavy mob and will be sympathetic and amenable to your plight.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • they will fit a PP electric at any height...
they dont care, as the op actioning the warrant usually gets a bonus payment from the supplier for either getting full or part payment or smaller bonus for fitting a PP, so he will want to get it in regardless of height..
I have seen dozens of them at 8-10ft...

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    Malc,
as the rep of the company responsible, it would have been really helpful if you had included tel no or email address for The Vulnerable Customers Team you mention , which funnily enough your Vulnerable Customers page doesn't quote either. Go on, do the decent thing...help somebody in trouble!

If not, the Home Energy Helpline freephone service 0800 33 66 99 might be worth bringing to the OP's attention.
Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!

Do vulnerable customers not have to pay for energy then...?

  • Thank you very much everybody for your replies, especially regarding the prepayment meters and their siting as tht has really put my mind at rest.

With regards to Malc at eons reply. I have been in contact with your company 3 times to try and resolve the matter and each time was told there was nothing they could do unless I agreed to pay half the outstanding balance by the end of the week.

Does anybody know whether I will be able to be at court when they apply for the warrant? I would like to point out that I have offered a payment plan to Eon where the debt would be clear within 3 months and they weren't willing to accept it. It seems daft, considering this, that they will then charge me £250.00 for the privilege of it taking much much longer for them to recover their debt.

In relation to my financial difficulties, they were due to me being self employed and on maternity leave. I have now returned to work and am in a position to make high payments to clear the debt.

Thank you again everyone for taking the time to reply.

You can attend, but the warrant is for access to their metering equipment. you will still be charged eons costs, however it wont go down well that no payments have been made at all since last year.

  • You will prob have to accept a prepay, total disconnect nowadays is extremely rare. Prepays are nt that bad, they are set at "standard tariff " a few percent higher than tariffs with discounts for this and that. You avoid the big ticket bills, and odd direct debits. You can also get them to send you a "gizmo " to allow topping up on your PC ,at least with Brit Gas, Scot Power, and Eon. I see loads of prepays in outside boxes, cant remember seeing one in a semi concealed one tho
  • Thank you again for your replies, I have started making payments, I am paying at least £50.00 per week and £100.00 every fortnight (so approximately £400.00 per month), but they state this is unacceptable and again they want half the outstanding balance. Does anyone know how long it will take to go through to court?

    Thanks again

Why does it need to go court? If you tell them that you are willing to have prepayment meters installed they should do that and stop the court action.

By the way when I moved here there were these sort of meters in the position you describe.. the gas outside and the electric at ceiling height which is about 8ft. I got them changed to normal meters but used them like that for a while.
