What prince means is that the lack of receipt is not irrelevant.
The nephew MUST either get a receipt OR pay by a means that has trail of proof: cheque, standing order etc.
As an aside, many landlords who ask for/insist on cash are avoiding paying tax, may not have the appropriate consents etc....0 -
As it's cash, it explains why the OP wants a rent book = so there is a record.
As insisting on cheques bank payments SO etc might upset the landlord, they might not object to an "initial" in his rent book.Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.

That was my thinking originally , I didn't realize they had gone out of fashion so much!
